Doncaster Racing Tips (Saturday 28 March 2026)
A whopping eight races take place at Doncaster on Saturday with some fabulously competitive races lighting up the track. Check out Andrew’s best bets here.
1.50 Doncaster – Spycatcher (1pt win – 4/1 generally)
Spycatcher won this race on his comeback last year and signed off with victory in the Wentworth Stakes, another course and distance Listed contest. Karl Burke’s gelding starts the season as an eight-year-old, but he matched his career-best RPR (Racing Post Rating) of 117 when landing the Wentworth and when scoring in France on his penultimate start. Softer ground would have been preferable, but the headwind will assist his come-from-behind style and he’s worth a bet. I’ve saved on My Mate Alfie, whose connections will be keen to quickly re-coup some of the 250,000gns they paid for the ex-Ger Lyons five-year-old gelding at the sales last autumn.
2.25 Doncaster – Intrusively (0.5pt e/w – 16/1 generally, Sky Bet paying six places)
We’re guessing as to the effect of the draw in Doncaster’s Spring Mile but, at the prices, I’m prepared to take a chance that stall 19 will be ok for Intrusively. The four-year-old makes his debut for Mick Appleby after leaving Ed Bethell and his new trainer has a fine record at the first time of asking with horses he takes over from other yards, including seven from 26 with turf runners who had been gelded since their latest start as this one has (+£37.63 to a £1 level stake at SP). The son of Territories will appreciate any cut in the ground, and he ran well over course and distance when we last saw him.
2.57 Doncaster – Treble Tee (1pt win – 13/2 Paddy Power, 6/1 bet365, 11/2 generally)
I expect that out old friend Docklands (my Royal Ascot nap at a big price last season) will run well without winning on his comeback, as his connections won’t be fussed about winning a mere Listed contests when he has a host of Group 1 targets later this year and he has finished second in all four previous seasonal debuts. Qirat, whose four wins have come on right-handed tracks could also prove vulnerable over this straight mile. Take the pair on with Treble Tee, a winner first-time out as a juvenile. He was beaten on his comeback last term but improved for a subsequent wind operation and won over course and distance in the autumn. I’ll be saving on Excellent Believe.
Kempton Racing Tips (Saturday 28 March 2026)
A quality all-weather card comes from Kempton as well, where Andrew focuses on the conditions stakes at 3.52pm.
3.52 Kempton – Ellusive Butterfly (1pt win – 5/1 William Hill, 9/2 bet365)
Elusive Butterfly did well to win at Southwell last time as she raced in the ‘swamp’ on the inside rail when it paid to come centre to near side. Her speed figure was nothing special that day, but the runner-up, Seeing The Stars, boosted the form when scoring at Kempton on her next outing and Karl Burke’s filly looks over-priced.
