Doncaster Racing Tips (Thursday 10 September 2026)
An eight race card at Doncaster kicks off at 1.15pm, with the action going right through until 5.20pm. Here are Andrew’s best bets on the card.
1.15 Doncaster – Sexy Chick (1pt win – 8/1 Unibet, 15/2 bet365, Hills)
Sexy Chick is a good statistical fit for this 6.5f fillies’ nursery and she’ll appreciate the ease in grade after finishing a 100-1 fifth of 17 in the Group 2 Lowther Stakes at York on her latest assignment. Nine of the last ten winners of this Class 2 contest came from the top five in the weights and had won at least once previously. Richard Spencer’s daughter of Havana Grey found the 5f trip against her when a respectable 20-1 eighth of 13 in a Listed race at Newbury on her penultimate start, doing fourth best of the closers, and her patient style will be an asset at this venue, especially if the wind is into their faces which looks likely. She’s the yard’s second string behind Speed Of Sound but that one doesn’t look 100% straightforward (can race keenly and hang).
3.35 Doncaster – Beguiled (0.5pt e/w – 12/1 Sky Bet, four places, is the best option, others 14/1 three places Paddy Power, BetVictor)
Simply backing horses who were ridden patiently in their prep race would have found six of the last ten May Hill winners for a profit of £39.30 to a £1 level stake at SP and, with three or four front-runners in today’s line-up – Sea Of Rain, Tie A Navyribbon, Martinet and Scommessa Sicra – this race looks likely to be set up for a closer. Beguiled shaped well on her debut when a 16-1 third of 13 in a 7f fillies’ maiden at Glorious Goodwood, doing best of those to come from off the pace, and the daughter of Make Believe went two places better at Newmarket next time. Easy ground shouldn’t be an issue on breeding, and she looks capable of further improvement.
4.45 Doncaster – Storm Blade (1pt win – 4/1 general)
Nine of the last ten winners of this 7f nursery came from off the pace and, while last time out running style hasn’t always been the best guide, I’m expecting Oisin Murphy to have Andrew Balding’s Storm Blade settled in rear in the early stages. The Night Of Thunder colt arrived late when runner-up at Chester on his latest assignment, again displaying signs of inexperience. His trainer has a good recent record with colts on their handicap debuts – 40 winners from 192 bets (20.8%) since the beginning of 2021 for a profit of £85.62 to a £1 level stake at SP (+£135.22 at Betfair SP after 2% commission, expected wins = 33.36, A/E = 1.20) – and there should be more improvement to come.
