1.50 Leopardstown – Tattersalls Ireland Novice Hurdle – THE REVEREND (1pt win – 8/1)

Willie Mullins saddled Kopek Des Bordes to victory in this race 12 months ago and the master of Closutton can reign once again in the Grade 1 Tattersalls Ireland Novice Hurdle, as The Reverend can land the prize for the champion trainer. A top notch middle distance handicapper for William Haggas on the Flat, where his biggest victory came in the Old Borough Cup at Haydock, The Reverend made a winning start over hurdles when landing a Cork maiden hurdle back in January. This is a gargantuan step up against some proven top notch rivals including Talk The Talk and Ballyfad, but The Reverend has already shown he can jump adequately and with some notable flat speed he could well propel himself into the Cheltenham novice hurdle picture with victory here.

2.10 Leopardstown – Ladbrokes Dublin Chase – MAJBOROUGH (1pt win – 7/4)

Joseph O’Brien’s Solness will attempt to retain the Grade 1 Dublin Chase at 2.10pm on Sunday, but he may have to settle for the minor honours, as the race is likely to be between Majborough and reigning Queen Mother Champion Chase hero Marine Nationale. The latter was beaten two lengths in this race last season and it appears he leaves his best for Cheltenham, so it’s worth sticking with Majborough, who is still looking to produce his best over fences. The former Triumph Hurdle hero has shown his jumping frailties over fences, but continues to be thereabouts at the top level. Third behind Solness and Marine Nationale at Leopardstown over Christmas, Majborough has form to find, but if he can improve his slickness over his obstacles then there’s undoubtedly a lot of class there and having won the Irish Arkle at this meeting in 2025 then he can claim more Grade 1 glory at the Dublin Racing Festival.

14:10 Ladbrokes Dublin Chase (Grade 1)

2.45 Leopardstown – O’Driscolls Irish Whiskey Leopardstown Handicap Chase – WIN SOME LOSE SOME (1pt win – 14/1)

Winless in four runs over fences, Win Some Lose Some can finally break his duck over fences in the hugely competitive 2.45pm contest. Padraig Roche’s charge put up his best performance on his chasing debut when third at Galway, which came over a trip of 2m 6f. Outpaced over two and two-and-a-half miles recently, the step up to near three miles for Sunday’s contest should see him in a much better light. A winner over hurdles at Leopardstown earlier in his career over this sort of trip, the JP McManus-owned runner has been crying out for a trip and he could relish the hustle and bustle of this contest and land a career-defining win.
