The Group 2 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes hosts an exciting showdown on Friday at Newmarket. It is likely that the two best juvenile fillies in Britain are contesting the race, both of whom starred at Royal Ascot.
GG tipster Joe Napier previews the clash, analysing whether any of their six rivals can do enough to interrupt the top two in the market.

The Albany Stakes has been an unsurprisingly strong pointer for success in this race recently. Libertango was a particularly impressive winner of that contest, overcoming her own rogue behaviour to win going away. She may need to learn to race with greater restraint, but George Boughey likely has a very good filly on his hands.
That also looks the case for the Crisfords with Senorita Bonita. A talking horse after overcoming plenty of problems to win on debut at Nottingham, she chased home potentially the best juvenile so far this season in the Queen Mary Stakes. The step up to 6f now looks a wise move and she lends her hand to a race which features, on form, the best two two-year-old filles in Britain this season.
Alwaysanangel challenges for Ireland. Joseph O’Brien’s charge won readily on debut last week and it is interesting that she is Dylan Browne McMonagle’s only Friday ride. Etonnante and Ruby Moon have also won their only races contested so far. Each could be anything, though are best watched in against serious fillies with proven form.
Acclamation Star and Jolivette were both more than seven lengths behind Libertango in the Albany. There is little reason they should overturn such a distance, while Troublesome Guest ran okay in the Windsor Castle Stakes at the royal meeting, but again has plenty on her plate.

Betting Forecast
33/1 Acclamation Star, 16/1 Alwaysanangel, 10/1 Etonnante, 14/1 Jolivette, 4/6 Libertango, 20/1 Ruby Moon, 3/1 Senorita Bonita, 33/1 Troublesome Guest
Verdict
Having impressed with a late burst to win the Group 3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot, LIBERTANGO can maintain her unbeaten record. Senorita Bonita also went for a lot of money at the breeze-ups and is feared most having finished second in the Group 2 Queen Mary at the Royal meeting, although once-raced winners Alwaysanangel (third choice) and Etonnante bring considerable potential.[Ben Hutton]

Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes Trends 2026
The following are four trends to heed when approaching a bet on the Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes.
- The last eight winners have been trained in England
- Only one of the last four favourites has won the race
- Only two horses priced bigger than 6/1 have won this race in the past decade
- Four of the last five winners ran in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot (Libertango won that race)
2026 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes Tips
Libertango overcame greenness to win with something to spare at Royal Ascot. However, Senorita Bonita may well have achieved just as much when second to Victorious in the Queen Mary Stakes on what was the wrong side of the track almost all week. She has seen out 5f very strongly on both starts and may come into her own over 6f. Dylan Browne McMonagle only comes over for one ride on Friday aboard Alwaysanangel, who is respected on that note.
