It’s Derby day at Epsom. A day which used to force an adjournment of parliament, Epsom are doing their best to restore the great race to its former glories.
GG tipster Joe Napier has a selection in the big contest among our lucky 15 tips. He combines four each-way selections for you to follow.
Epsom Racing Tips (Saturday 6 June)
The Derby is the centrepiece of Epsom’s Saturday card. However, there is quality racing throughout, and you can find out Joe’s four each-way tips below…
2.05 Epsom – Love Dynasty (1pt e/w – 20/1)
With no huge form standout in the Derby day opener, Love Dynasty could be an improving danger. Kevin Ryan’s mare is extremely lightly-raced, having competed just five times on a racetrack. Her two wins came for William Haggas, but she was competitive twice in Listed company for Ryan at the end of last year despite not having raced since 2024. She returned at the end of April with a respectable fourth at that level at Nottingham. This race is the first time she has had a genuine run at things in her career. Equally, any cut in the ground is no issue and the drop back to a little over 1m should be ideal. Billy Loughnane is a positive jockey booking too.
3.15 Epsom – Rhythm N Hooves (1pt e/w – 25/1)
Kinswoman is probably ahead of the handicapper still, but this may happen a bit quickly for her. At a bigger price, Rhythm N Hooves makes plenty of each-way appeal. His recent form figures read 6223544543, with all bar two of those in fields of nine or more. He has dropped 4lb for those latest two efforts despite continuing to beat the majority of his rivals. Robert Cowell’s charge is all speed, so the 5f at Epsom should present ideal conditions. He has form on softer than good, was unlucky in this race 12 months ago off 5lb higher, and should outrun his odds.
4.00 Epsom – Christmas Day (1pt e/w – 20/1)
Aidan O’Brien won this with a third string last season and his Derby team has depth once again. Christmas Day is the most attractive from a betting perspective. His form in winning the Group 3 Ballysax Stakes on return may be going underrated. He had James J Braddock and Pierre Bonnard well behind that day, both of whom are significantly shorter prices here. That is because the selection was only third when favourite for the Dante at York. That has been Ballydoyle’s worst trial historically though and Ryan Moore endured a rare brain fade when guiding him towards the near side. The centre of the track proved better for the first two home, but Christmas Day looks as likely to benefit for the increase in distance as any running here form the Dante. He can overturn the form from York, should be suited by conditions and is likely to go forward. Ronan Whelan can make his big race call-up a profitable one.
5.20 Epsom – Lord Melbourne (1pt e/w – 20/1)
Recent form is a real worry for Lord Melbourne, but he is two from three at Epsom and worth chancing. The six-year-old was fifth at this meeting two years ago, then won upped to 1m4f at the track in August that year. After missing most of 2025, he reappeared to comfortably win again at the track last September. Off a comfortable career high mark, he was a respectable sixth in the November Handicap at Doncaster. He was 13lb higher in that race than when winning it in 2024. Since then, he has really struggled, failing to beat a rival the last twice. However, if he is going to be revived anywhere, it will be at Epsom. He is only 3lb higher than when winning convincingly at the track nine months ago. That is too tempting a factor to ignore.
