Five horse racing fixtures race on Friday 5 December with day one of the Tingle Creek meeting at Sandown Park being the highlight. The GG Lucky 15 tips for the day come from the three National Hunt fixtures at Exeter, Sandown and Sedgefield.
Friday’s cards include a brace of Grade 2 races at Sandown Park, with the Esher Novices’ Chase the standout contest at 2.20pm. There is also some competitive jumping action at Exeter and Sedgefield on what should be an action-packed day’s action.
Exeter Racing Tips (Friday 5 December 2025)
A bumper eight races take place in the West Country at Exeter on Friday with three hurdle contest, four chases and a National Hunt flat race.
1.23 Exeter – Beat The Bat (1pt win – 3/1)
Both Joyeuse and Brentford Hope were far from impressive on their chasing debuts, so they could prove vulnerable at the head of the market in a fascinating Beginners’ Chase at 1.23pm. Harry Fry’s Beat The Bat is a newcomer to the chasing game here, but he could be worth taking a chance on in his chasing debut. Fourth in the Coral Cup at the Cheltenham Festival back in March, he then finished fifth in a competitive contest at the Punchestown Festival to maintain some solid form. This is a big ask on his chasing debut, but if he could take to the discipline then he could well get the better of his three rivals.
1.58 Exeter – U Can’t Be Serious (1pt win – 13/8)
A decent novice hurdler, U Can’t Be Serious could shape up into an even better chaser and he can land victory in the 1.58pm contest at Exeter. Back in mid-November he kicked off his chasing career with a half-length victory at Exeter and he will return to the track for local trainer Joe Tizzard to make it two from two. He was given a 5lbs rise for that win, so will face a tougher task here, but he was well on top at the finish that day and he is a performer that could continue to improve with every run over the larger obstacles.
Sandown Racing Tips (Friday 5 December 2025)
Six races makes up Sandown’s quality jumping card and we focus on the last race on the card at 3.30pm, which looks a competitive handicap hurdle run over 1m 7f 216y.
3.30 Sandown – Torrent (1pt win – 14/1)
Nigel Hawke’s Torrent made a very pleasing return when second at Chepstow back in October, but he failed to follow up when disappointing at Ascot next time out. He’s been dropped 2lbs by the handicapper for that run, so he takes his chance off 117 here, which is the same mark he ran off at Chepstow. He has finished in the first four in 11 of his last 12 races, so has shown to be a real consistent performer and if he can recapture the form he showed at Chepstow then he has to be considered a lively play at double-figured odds.
Sedgefield Racing Tips (Friday 5 December 2025)
It’s an early start at Sedgefield with their seven races kicking off at 11.48am and our sole tip from the northern track lines up in the 2.08pm race.
2.08 Sedgefield – Bo Cruz (1pt win – 7/2)
Donald McCain’s Bo Cruz has failed to get his head in front over hurdles, but he could shape into a better chaser and looks to have potential of winning the 2.08pm race at Sedgefield. Runner-up in Irish points, he’s shown he can perform over the larger obstacles and given an initial mark of 97 for his chasing debut he could prove to be better than that mark. The step up in trip should prove to be a positive as well, so if he can enjoy the switch to chasing then he could be capable of landing this low-key event.
