Mal Boyle will be offering his thoughts every Friday in what will be a weekly event (with very few exceptions) until the turf flat season emerges in 2014.

Best of luck tonight…and every Friday night!

Mal Boyle’s assessment:

Wolverhampton 5.55: Favourites have won both renewals to date, though the 2/1 trade press price about That’s Plenty looks skinny in the extreme. I’m sweet on the chance of course winner VERSE OF LOVE personally, especially with trainer David Evans running riot at this venue during the opening weeks of this ‘new’ winter season.

Dundalk 6.15: MR BOUNTY looks weighted to win with FLEET CAPTAIN having shot up the handicap as a result of a good recent effort.

Wolverhampton 6.25: Both favourites have won this event thus far at 5/4 and 15/8, though this year’s renewal appears to be a far more competitive event. My short list comprises of GEORGE FENTON and DODINA.

Dundalk 6.45: STOICHKHOV is the call from a win perspective with connections arguably having most to fear from MISTY LANE at the business end of the contest.

Wolverhampton 6.55: It seems that Wolverhampton’s finale is the toughest leg to call in the opening week of the new wager and my tentative trio against the other ten contenders consists of CADEAUX PEARL, SOLEMN and SHAWKANTANGO. The three horses are listed in order of preference.

Dundalk 7.15: CRAFTY CODGER looks difficult to kick out of the frame given the place part of the wager. Short priced options are useful at the end of the bet as a relatively easy ‘laying off’ procedure should be in place should you have been fortunate to get through to the finale. CRAFTY CODGER qualifies via the form book as well as the ‘opting out’ option.

Mal’s Scoop6 permutation:

Leg 1: 2 (Verse Of Love)

Leg 2: 3 (Mr Bounty) & 1 (Fleet Captain)

Leg 3: 3 (George Fenton) & 7 (Dodina)

Leg 4: 8 (Stoichkhov) & 4 (Misty Lane)

Leg 5: 9 (Cadeaux Pearl)–8 (Solemn)–13 (Shawkantango)

Leg 6: 3 (Crafty Codger)
