5.10 Cork – LIKEDBYMIKE (0.5pt e/w – 25/1 bet365)
It would be wrong to call LIKEDBYMIKE a course specialist, but Michael Byrne’s filly secured her only career success by a comfortable margin at this venue and has been given a distinct chance by the handicapper back at the track. She won a juvenile maiden by more than four lengths last season before being pitched into decent company this term, finishing third in a decent rated event on seasonal return before anticipating the start in a Listed race next time out. Her one handicap start since was disappointing, but came in a strong race off top-weight and she is now 11lb lower because of a blow out at Tipperary latest. That is forgiven ahead of this contest given her price, the fact the step up to 6f could help, and that she is so much lower in the handicap here.
6.40 Cork – HELLORHIGHWATER (1pt win – 3/1 bet365)
Ben Lawers may have run in Listed company, but he did so unconvincingly, leaving the best form candidate to be HELLORHIGHWATER. Gavin Cromwell’s charge has finished second on both starts, firstly in a 16-runner event at Limerick when comfortably ahead of a couple of today’s rivals, and then at Killarney when beaten only by the favourite having finished 12 lengths clear of the third. Although he has 17 rivals to contend with here, he is very unlikely to be a maiden for long, with a repeat performance of either of his two starts to date close to being enough for victory here as things stand.
