A whopping ten races will take place in front of the ITV racing cameras on Friday 10th October, as there’s quality flat action at Newmarket and York, while Chepstow’s jumps season opener will see some classy action over the sticks. We focus on the action on terrestrial television and pick out our GG Lucky 15 tips for the day here..

2.25 Newmarket – COSMIC YEAR (1pt win – 2/1 generally)
Harry Charlton’s COSMIC YEAR shaped like he could be a genuine Group 1 performer when winning a listed event at Newmarket back in May. Sent as a lively rival to Field Of Gold in the Irish 2000 Guineas, the three-year-old son of Kingman could only finish second that day to John & Thady Gosden’s star grey and since then he’s struggled. Seventh in the Prix Jean Prat in France, he was last seen finishing last of four in the Thoroughbred Stakes at Goodwood. Given a break by the Charlton team, he’s back to try and claim Challenge Stakes glory at 2.25pm at Newmarket, and in receipt of weight from some old rivals he could just prove to be too good. A winner on his sole start at Flat HQ, Cosmic Year can end his campaign on British soil with a taking victory here.
2.40 York – DANTE’S LAD (1pt win – 7/1 Sky Bet, Paddy Power)
Unable to figure on his last start at Newbury when finishing fifth, DANTE’S LAD will enjoy a return to York on Friday for the 2.40pm, as he’s previously run two fine races on the Knavesmire, which includes a handicap win back in May. He’s 8lbs higher for this contest and will have the burden of top weight, but with Jack Callan taking a valuable 5lbs off his back then he has every potential to score again. He has shown his best form on quicker ground and with the weather set fair then he could relish the conditions at York and whilst Mukhtalif looks a lively adversary it’s George Boughey’s Dante’s Lad that can land the prize.
2.57 Newmarket – PRECISE (1pt win – 13/8 bet365)
Aidan O’Brien sits alongside the legendary training duo of John Gosden and Sir Henry Cecil with six wins in the Fillies’ Mile, but the Ballydoyle maestro can pull clear of the pair on Friday as he can land victory in the big Group 1 race of the day at 2.57pm at Newmarket with hot favourite PRECISE. Already a leading fancy for next season’s 1000 Guineas, the daughter of Starspangledbanner showed her class when storming to victory in the Prestige Stakes at Goodwood. Last seen downing smart stablemate Beautify in the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh, she’s now set to tackle a mile for the first time, and there’s no suggestion she shouldn’t improve for the furlong extra. Having dwelt early in the Moyglare she showed a fine turn of foot to push her way to the front and then saw it very well to earn 8/1 quotes for the Guineas, and she can duly cement her place at the summit of next year’s Classic betting with a dominant win here.
3.12 Chepstow – LE MILOS (1pt win – 7/2 William Hill, Betfair)
Very smart at his best, LE MILOS has a Coral Gold Cup victory on his CV and in recent times Dan Skelton’s ten-year-old has shown signs of his best form and he could prove to a real class act in a fascinating veterans’ handicap chase at 3.12pm. Last seen winning a similar contest at Fakenham back in May, he’s been given a notable break by the Skelton team and will be making his comeback run here. Given a 3lbs rise for that success five months ago, he will take his chance off 143 for this contest, but he’s more than capable of defying that rise and is entitled to be towards the head of the betting.
