2.55 Ascot – NOVELISTA (1pt win – 2/1 William Hill)
An impressive one-length winner at Goodwood two starts ago, NOVELISTA then failed to follow up when sent off a short-priced favourite at Musselburgh on his next outing. Charlie Johnston’s raider could only finish fourth that day, but that run in Scotland was less than two weeks after his Goodwood win, so he may have just been feeling those exertions late on. The three-year-old is only 3lbs higher still than that Goodwood win and having been given a notable few weeks off the track then he could be back firing on all cylinders here and can land victory in the 1m 7f 209y marathon at 2.55pm.
4.05 Ascot – ARABIAN FORCE (1pt win – 11/8 generally)
Narrowly touched off at Hamilton Park in a Listed event back in July, ARABIAN FORCE was then upped in class, but put in a career best to finish third behind Pride Of Arras and Carmers in the Group 2 Great Voltigeur Stakes at York. Beaten just over a length that day, with Derby hero Lambourn behind him, Arabian Force shaped like a step up in trip should suit and he has that on Friday in the Noel Murless Stakes at 4.05pm. Doing all his best work late on at York, the Lope De Vega colt should relish this test and can simply outclass his rivals.
4.40 Ascot – SONDAD (1pt win – 8/1 Sky Bet, Paddy Power)
Mick & David Easterby’s SONDAD has been in sensational form all season and the course-and-distance winner will be looking to taste more success at Ascot on Friday in the 4.40pm event. Last seen finishing a gallant runner-up in the Ayr Silver Cup, where he was victorious on his side of the track, Sondad will need to deal with a 1lb rise for that run here. However, he’s shown all season that he continues to defy the handicapper and he is certain to run a big race. Having finished either first or second in five of his last six starts, he’s a real model of consistency and is a real solid each-way play, but Joanna Mason could potentially notch up another victory on board and continue his progression up the ladder.
5.15 Ascot – ANGEL HUNTER (1pt win – 10/1 bet365)
ANGEL HUNTER won a competitive York nursery at the end of last season, but Richard Hannon’s three-year-old has failed to taste victory since, but could be worth giving a chance to at decent odds in the finale at 5.15pm. He only started his campaign late this term and having finished fifth at Ascot on his first outing back in September, he then finished a creditable eighth in a tough Doncaster handicap. Dropped a further 2lbs by the handicapper for that run, Angel Hunter takes his chance off a figure of 86 for Friday’s finale and he could have the potential to record a second career win.
