2.43 Hamilton – CANARIA QUEEN (1pt win – 9/2 generally)
Tim Easterby’s CANARIA QUEEN has been in stunning form this season having won three of her last five races and the mare can continue to blossom at Hamilton in the 2.43pm contest and looks the one to beat in that event. A narrow neck winner of a competitive event at Carlisle last time, the five-year-old has only been given a rise of 3lbs by the handicapper, so a mark of 56 here looks very workable and she can deliver the goods in the second race on the card.
2.50 Plumpton – LADY CARO (1pt win – 3/1 bet365)
LADY CARO made a pleasing return to the track at Stratford earlier this month when third on her comeback run and Emma Lavelle’s charge can kick on from that season opener and claim victory in the 2.50pm at Plumpton. Victorious on her last outing at Plumpton back in March, she’s only 3lbs higher in the handicap, so has the potential to build on that effort following that first run of the campaign and she looks the most likely winner in a race devoid of strength in depth.
3.43 Hamilton – AMAYRETTO (1pt win – 7/4 generally)
It could prove to be a very successful day for Tim Easterby’s yard as he can strike in the 3.43pm race at Hamilton with AMAYRETTO, who is another that has been in great form all year. Three victories from seven starts has seen the four-year-old rocket up the handicap and he will need to defy a 7lbs rise for an authoritative victory at Hamilton two weeks ago. Blitzing over three lengths clear that day, Amayretto has to be a huge contender, if replicating that performance, and he has to be backed in this event.
4.07 Southwell – THE MAN (1pt win – 5/2 generally)
Hugely impressive when romping to victory in a York handicap back in May, THE MAN was then narrowly denied on a big race double back at the same venue next time out, but Richard Spencer’s charge had to settle for second place behind Trefor. Given another 4lbs rise this progressive sprinter will need to deliver a career best to land this prize, but he’s shown he relishes these big fields and if he can continue on an upward curve then is capable of tasting victory again.
