2.45 Ayr – EL BURHAN (1pt win – 15/2 William Hill)
With three wins from seven career starts, George Boughey’s EL BURHAN has been a reliable performer for connections, but is very eye-catching that he steps up to 1m 2f for the 2.45pm at Ayr on Thursday and could be capable of notching up victory number four. He failed to figure from a wide draw at Chester last time out and struggled in the Golden Gates Stakes at Royal Ascot the time before that, but this contest is a much easier assignment and if he can see out the trip then he looks well handicapped off a mark of 94.
3.15 Ayr – AEOLIAN (1pt win – 11/10 William Hill)
Last seen finishing at the back of the field in the Listed Galtres Stakes at York on her last outing, AEOLIAN will be looking to bounce back to winning ways in the 3.15pm at Ayr. An impressive two-length winner at Newmarket on only her second start, the Fastnet Rock filly shaped like she could be a potential pattern performer, so a drop back into handicap company should see her prove to be the best quite comfortably. She will give weight away to all her rivals here, so will need to bounce back from that York flop, but she holds an entry in the Fillies & Mares Stakes on British Champions Day at Ascot and she can book her place there with a win.
3.30 Yarmouth – WICKET KEEPER (1pt win – 11/4 William Hill)
First Folio won this race 12 months ago and off a 1lb higher mark has to be respected in the 3.30pm at Yarmouth, but Ed Bethell’s WICKET KEEPER can get the better of that rival in what is a trappy contest. The son of Kodi Bear racked up a brace of wins at Catterick and Doncaster in the first half of the season, but struggled to kick on from that when finishing last in an Ayr Gold Cup trial back in June. Given a break since then, he can still be a huge player off a mark of 90 if bouncing back to form and he looks the one to beat here.
4.45 Ayr – WHO WANTS ME (1pt win – 7/1 bet365)
Iain Jardine’s WHO WANTS ME still remains a maiden after 11 starts, but with a tongue strap applied for the first time in the 4.45pm at Ayr then he can finally break that duck here. He arguably put in a career best last time out at Thirsk when finishing a creditable third and he will line up off the same mark of 75 for Thursday’s event and looks a potential each-way play in a really competitive betting heat.
