Some series finals occur on the flat at Nottingham on Thursday, as well as quality racing from Salisbury too. GG tipster Joe Napier heads to those two tracks for the four bets in Thursday’s lucky 15.
3.17 Salisbury – THURSDAY GIRL (1pt e/w – 9/1 bet365)
The debutante THURSDAY GIRL stands out as one who could well win on debut for Ed Walker even in a competitive race. Walker has sent out some talented juveniles this campaign and his charge here is a half-sister to two first-time-out winners in Dynamic Force and Army Ethos, as well as to this year’s Fred Darling Stakes winner Duty First. Being by Pinatubo, she is even more likely than those to be a forward two-year-old and there is not a great deal to be scared of among those with racecourse experience to date. A top three finish, or better, looks well within her range.

4.20 Salisbury – DR STRANGELOVE (1pt e/w – 8/1 bet365)
Five of the last six runnings of this 6f handicap have gone to three-year-olds and DR STRANGELOVE could be the one to extend that record this season. Oliver Cole has not hit the ground running since taking over the full training licence from his dad Paul but the selection made a very promising start to his career in novice events, with one win and two narrow second-placed efforts to his name. A disappointing effort on handicap debut at Kempton has seen him drop 2lb in the ratings, but that tenth of 12 came in a much hotter race than this one. On his final novice start, he was beaten a head conceding 12lb to a rival now rated 84, so his own mark of 85 is surely one he can profit from if recapturing that early momentum.
4.35 Nottingham – DOUBLE RED (1pt e/w – 6/1 Hills)
Two runs earlier this season at Nottingham yielded two victories for DOUBLE RED, who is therefore unbeaten at the venue for Henry Candy and could extend that here. The four-year-old begun his season with those two wins before a poorer run of form up until last time out at Epsom having had two months off. However, he looked to have refound his form at the Surrey track, winning by two lengths from in rear and it may just be that he is back in ideal shape at the right time, at a track he clearly relishes.
4.50 Salisbury – GRECIAN LEGACY (1pt e/w – 9/2 bet365)
Having begun this season in style at Goodwood, GRECIAN LEGACY has since run at the biggest meetings the British flat has to offer, finishing second on Derby day before being down the field in the King George V Stakes and at Glorious Goodwood. His runner-up effort at Epsom was a close run thing though and he shaped better than the bare result at Kempton last time. The combination of a return to 1m2f and a drop to a mark of 82 could ensure he is back in the winners’ enclosure.
