There is Graded and Listed action at Clonmel on Thursday, as well as a quality card full of potential from Newbury. GG tipster Joe Napier has picked out four best bets across those two cards to make up GG’s Lucky 15 top tips on the day.

1.05 Newbury – BELIEVITANDUCAN (1pt win – 13/2 bet365)
You would be 38.5 points in profit for following Alan King’s runners to a level stake in the last fortnight, so BELIEVITANDUCAN could well have an excellent chance in the second race on Newbury’s card. The four-year-old made a winning debut against Fred Winter third Liam Swagger at this track last December before finding the Triumph Hurdle Trial too hot in January. That may have simply been too much for him at that stage of his career, as he won under a penalty next time out at Stratford in March with little fuss. He ran well on his flat debut for King in April as well, so overall boasts a progressive profile while he proved he can go well fresh on his hurdles bow.
1.40 Newbury – CAPTAIN HUGO (1pt win – 9/2 (Paddy Power/William Hill)
This is a fascinating maiden hurdle including 150/1 Champion Bumper fourth Caballero Cliff and Envoi Allen’s full brother Joyau Allen. The latter is intriguing, but after a 622-day layoff, is worth watching for now and preference is for CAPTAIN HUGO for Philip Hobbs & Johnson White. The five-year-old was beaten on his first bumper start at Hereford but bolted in next time out at Worcester, pulling clear to score by nine lengths. That suggests he is up to being a competitive novice hurdler in strong events this term and entitles him to respect against plenty of exciting rivals.
2.15 Newbury – KHRISMA (1pt win – 2/1 bet365)
The likes of Strong Run and Jackie Hobbs ran well enough in the Grade 2 mares’ bumper at Aintree, but they will have to jump smoothly and step up to match Nicky Henderson’ KHRISMA. Already rated 127, the mare was third on her stable debut to a prior Listed winner in Jubilee Alpha at Windsor, then travelled like the best horse in the race when a ¾-length second at the Punchestown Festival in May. The winner of that race has gone on to be third in the Galway Hurdle and win twice at Listed level himself, so there is likely a lot more to come from this mare this season.
2.22 Clonmel – BIOLUMINESCENCE (1pt win – 2/1 Paddy Power)
BIOLUMINESCENCE may have 6½ lengths to find with Spindleberry from their meeting at Fairyhouse in May, but she also gets a 12lb swing which could sway this Listed mares’ chase in her favour. The JP McManus-owned seven-year-old easily won a Grade 2 at Limerick last season on her chasing debut, then finished a close second to Dancing City under a penalty in Grade 3 company next time out. Spindleberry was too good for her with her reception fo weight in February, while the Irish Grand National proved a step too far too early, but Gavin Cromwell’s charge retains significant potential and may even have the edge on her main market rival on ground quicker than soft.
