There are four jumps meetings across the UK and Ireland on Tuesday, and GG tipster Joe Napier goes to three of them to pick out his best bets for our Lucky 15.
1.26 Huntingdon – AMELIA’S STAR (1pt win – 10/3 bet365, Paddy Power)
Lady Tadita has made an excellent start to her hurdles career already, but this looks a stronger novice event than the one she won and she will now carry a winners’ penalty. She can be taken on with AMELIA’S STAR, who will be in receipt of 12lb factoring in Nick Slatters’ 5lb claim and is a year older with an extra race worth of experience under her belt. The five-year-old won a bumper at Newcastle in January beating Ce Mi Run, trained like Lady Tadita by Jamie Snoden. That rival won comfortably at Sedgefield next time out, while the selection was a competitive eighth in the Grade 2 mares’ bumper at Aintree. Should she take to hurdling, she should prove a tough mare to concede such weight to, while she holds Blue Betty on their Aintree run.
1.35 Hereford – GHOST DANCING (1pt win – 11/4 bet365)
Neither of the two first-time-out winners won overly strong events, with neither beating more than five rivals. Alan King’s GHOST DANCING is a newcomer to racing full stop, having never made a start on the flat despite her pedigree for the level, but her dam won over hurdles, as did one of her half-siblings and her yard have been in decent form for some time. With a history of producing decent juvenile hurdlers, King could well have another winner on his hands here in this relatively weak event in which she receives 7lb from two of her five opponents.
2.36 Huntingdon – DICKENS (1pt win – 9/4 generally)
Although he was beaten by a lowly-rated rival last time out, DICKENS has remained consistent and looks capable of getting back to winning ways in selling company here. He won a race of this nature at Newton Abbot at the end of September before embarking on his run of second-placed efforts since. He was conceding significant weight all-round last time, but is at home on good ground and at this trip, while the handicapper saw fit to ease his mark by 3lb after his previous run. That could make a great difference with Luke Scott continuing to take off 3lb with his claim.
3.02 Lingfield – BATWOMEN (1pt win – 12/1 generally)
A recent pipe opener can make the difference for BATWOMEN in a competitive handicap chase. The seven-year-old has done her winning at Fontwell, but the majority of her hurdles runs have come there and it is more notable how consistent she has been on ground quicker than soft, with form of 212313 over obstacles on good-to-soft or firmer. She won readily to conclude last season on good ground over 2m3f and was third in a point-to-point, suggesting she should learn to jump fences fairly swiftly. Her third at the end of last month should have gained her a great deal in terms of fitness and she is down 1lb to a rating she looks capable of winning off, being the only horse in the race to have run in the last 218 days.
