A quiet day’s racing in the UK will see only a brace of meetings take place from Ayr and Bangor on Wednesday 12th November. However, our in-house tipster Steve Chambers has managed to pick out his best four best bets for the day in the latest GG Lucky 15 tips column…
1.30 Bangor – JOYEUSE (1pt win – 11/8 William Hill)
An emphatic eight length winner of the William Hill Hurdle at Newbury back in February, JOYEUSE shaped like she could be a real player in the Mares’ Hurdle at Cheltenham in March, but was a well beaten sixth that day and was then well beaten at Fairyhouse. Nicky Henderson has opted to send her over fences and she runs in a cracking listed affair at Bangor at 1.30pm. Queens Gamble, Wyenot and Diva Luna all have some top form on their CV, but if Joyeuse can recapture the form that saw her scoot clear at Newbury then she can prove far too good for her rivals here, and she could be one to watch over fences this season.
2.00 Bangor – RICHMOND LAKE (1pt win – 11/2 William Hill)
The Doyen Chief and Le Milos have some excellent form in the book and will both be leading players in the 2.00pm at Bangor. But, the former makes his seasonal reappearance here and is 5lbs higher than his last mark, while Le Milos was disappointing last time out, so is best watched. One that could run a big race is Donald McCain’s RICHMOND LAKE, who hasn’t tasted success in two years, but has dropped to an attractive mark of 137. Pulled up in the Ultima at Cheltenham, he was then down the field at Aintree, but he’s since been given surgery on his wind and having gone close off marks of 142 last season then he’s potentially well handicapped in this intriguing contest.
2.20 Ayr – BOTH BARRELS (1pt win – 4/1 bet365)
Impressive when landing a course-and-distance victory on his last start back in March, BOTH BARRELS will attempt to make it two wins on the bounce at Ayr and looks a really solid option in the 2.20pm race on Wednesday. He was upped 7lbs by the handicapper for that victory eight months ago, and this contest looks a tougher assignment, but the seven-year-old is still lightly-raced and is open to significant improvement this season and is the selection in a decent betting heat for punters to enjoy.
4.00 Bangor – GO DANTE (1pt win – 6/1 William Hill)
A dual Imperial Cup winner, GO DANTE is the one with most appeal long-term this season, as he’s sure to venture back to Sandown in March to try and land the hat-trick. OIly Murphy’s star will make his seasonal bow in the finale at 4.00pm and he could prove to just be a class above his rivals here. He’s 4lbs higher than when winning the Imperial Cup, but he’s shown in recent seasons he’s a classy performer over hurdles, and while this trip may stretch him a little he’s worth backing on the basis of the cream rising to the top.
