1.10 Nottingham – SECRET MISTRAL (1pt win – 5/1 bet365)
Tony Carroll’s SECRET MISTRAL has been in excellent form in recent outings, but has just found one too good on her last two outings. However, the five-year-old mare can return to winning ways in the 1.10pm, as she can defy top weight and claim victory in the Nottingham contest. Just edged out in the closing stages of her last race at Haydock, she’s been given a 2lbs rise by the handicapper, so lines up off 74 for this event. With plenty of her rivals on Wednesday heading into the contest in poor form then Carroll’s charge should just have enough speed to last out in front.
1.30 Chepstow – LET’S SAIL AWAY (1pt win – 2/1 bet365)
Placed in all three chase starts to date, LET’S SAIL AWAY has racked up a brace of second placed finishes and a solitary third place in those runs, but can finally break his duck over fences in the 1.30pm at Chepstow. Third at Kelso last time out, he’s been given the same mark of 101 to run off in Wednesday’s race and he looks more than capable of landing this contest. He was an improver over hurdles and was an eye-catching 17-length winner back in March, so it would be no shock to see him continue his improvement over fences this season and he could land this prize with aplomb at the Welsh track for Tom Lacey.
2.25 Musselburgh – VELVET WHISPER (1pt win – 13/8 bet365)
Mightily-impressive when bounding to a one-and-a-half length victory at Nottingham a couple of weeks ago, Ed Bethell’s VELVET WHISPER can duly follow that win up with another success in the 2.25pm at Musselburgh. Given a 4lbs hike in the ratings for that win, he will line up off 69 for this contest, but will be looking to dominate this contest, like he did at Nottingham. He appeared to thrive in the heavy conditions that day, so any rain that hits Scotland in the lead-up to the race should aid his chances and he can secure two wins on the bounce in this event.
3.00 Chepstow – THE KEMBLE BREWERY (1pt win – 100/30 bet365)
A smart novice hurdler, THE KEMBLE BREWERY is set to make his chasing debut at Chepstow in the 3.00pm and the Kim Bailey & Mat Nicholls-trained six-year-old can kick off his career over fences with a win. He’s had wind surgery since pulling up on his final start at Sandown last season, so that should aid his chances, and while he has top weight in Wednesday’s event he’s the one that looks like he could have huge improvement in him over fences. He’s sure to improve for the run, but a mark of 129 looks eye-catching and he can bound to an emphatic win here.
