A whopping ten races will take place in front of the ITV Racing cameras on Saturday 4th October, with some quality action coming from Newmarket and Ascot. The Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes is the feature race of the day and we pick out our best bet for that contest at 2.40pm along with our best other selections to make up Saturday racing’s Lucky 15.

2.25 Ascot – AL QAREEM (1pt win – 5/2 bet365)
Karl Burke’s AL QAREEM bids for a hat-trick of wins in the Group 3 Cumberland Lodge Stakes at Ascot at 2.25pm and the hugely experienced six-year-old can deliver the goods once again at the Berkshire track and claim the three-timer. He will face a stiff test with the classy duo of Hamish and Sir Dinadan sure to put up a decent fight, but he seems to excel at this level and he can duly storm to victory again. Down the field in the Irish St Leger last time out, he’s a horse that has often struggled at the highest level, but dropping down in grade here at a track he loves should see him sparkle once again, despite him having to give weight away to all his rivals.
2.40 Newmarket – ATSILA (1pt win – 12/1 bet365)
Cinderella’s Dream is entitled to be sent off a warm favourite for the Sun Chariot Stakes at 2.40pm at Newmarket having won on her last two visits to Flat HQ, where she won the Dahlia Stakes and Falmouth Stakes in fine style. However, this year’s renewal of the Sun Chariot is jam-packed with quality and one contender that can outrun his odds is ATSILA for Joseph O’Brien. A Group 3 winner at the start of May, she was still relatively inexperienced when sixth in the Falmouth earlier in the season, but she put up a career best last time out when third in the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown. Just behind Fallen Angel that day, the pair will do battle again here and Atsila is available at much bigger odds than Karl Burke’s filly and receiving weight from her elders here is worth taking a chance on.
3.00 Ascot – QUINAULT (1pt win – 7/1 bet365)
A real trailblazer on the front end, QUINAULT has found it tough in recent outings in Group 1 and Group 2 company, but a drop back to Group 3 for the Bengough Stakes at 3.00pm at Ascot on Saturday can see the hugely likeable Stuart Williams-trained raider return to victory. Sure to be sent on from the stalls opening, the five-year-old will be looking to replicate his Group 3 win in the Criterion Stakes at York earlier in the season where he produced a magical front-running display. This contest certainly lacks huge strength in depth with a host of handicappers looking to step up, but Quinault could well get them all struggling in the closing stages and he can maintain his advantage out front.
3.35 Ascot – PUROSANGUE (1pt win – 20/1 generally)
Richard Hannon’s PUROSANGUE put up his best effort for a while last time out when finishing fourth in the Ayr Gold Cup last month and the four-year-old can build on that with a big run in the Challenge Cup Handicap at 3.35pm. A listed winner at his best, he’s been given a real chance by the handicapper for this contest as he’s 2lbs lower than his Ayr Gold Cup mark, so a mark of 96 looks very attractive if he can improve on that run a few weeks ago and he marks terrific value.
