We are counting down the days until the Cheltenham Festival and Kempton Park’s National Hunt card on Saturday could throw up some vital clues for next month’s National Hunt extravaganza.
The Weekend Watch team of Kate Tracey, Andrew Mount and Dave Young take a look at all Saturday’s live ITV Racing and pick out their best bets of the weekend…
You can back any of the team’s selections with BetMGM who are offering new customers £40 in free bets when you deposit and bet £10.
1:15 Kempton – Coral Racing Club Handicap Hurdle
Andrew: “The one I am going to come down on at a bigger price is Fantastic Lady for Nicky Henderson. This horse has been running over fences and she’s got some great form over the larger obstacles including a third to Hewick in the bet365 Gold Cup and her only visit to Kempton saw her finish third to Pic D’Orhy.”
Dave: “I think Joker De Mai has a proper, proper chance. I can’t see how this horse is out of the first four and we know Harry Derham is quite good at targeting horses at races.”
1:50 Kempton – Coral Adonis Juvenile Hurdle
Dave: “We know Paul Nicholls has done well in this race in the past and Kalif Du Berlais is going to step forward for his first run in this country. I think he should be able to give 5lbs to Givemefive”
Andrew: “It’s more of a watching race, but if I was going to throw a couple of quid at one it would probably Captain Marvellous. This one won her last time out and looking at the prices and how I know the yard operates I will go with that one”
2:27 Kempton – Coral Pendil Novices’ Chase
Dave: “I’ve got a real soft spot for Tahmuras and I think the quick turnaround for this horse is quite notable. He ran in a three-runner affair 13 days ago and is a horse that likes a pace to go at.”
Andrew: “My pick is Blow Your Wad for Tom Lacey. This one’s first eight starts below Grade 1 level produced five seconds and three wins. I think back on a flat track and he’s two from two here at Kempton he’s the selection.”
3:00 Kempton – Coral Dovecote Novices’ Hurdle
Dave: “The two I am going to with are Williethebuilder and Idy Wood. They both ran behind Lookaway and that horse is now 136-rated and Lookaway ran behind Captain Teague in the Challow.”
Andrew: “I’ll go for Fiercely Proud to make it three from three right-handed.”
3:37 Kempton – Coral Trophy Handicap Chase
Dave: “I think Blackjack Magic is one of the best bets of the weekend.”
Andrew: “The one I want to be with is Killer Kane. He always needs two runs at the start of the season and he’s only ever won in February or March.”
