Three days remain at Glorious Goodwood 2026, with the third day on Thursday featuring eight contests, including the Group 1 Nassau Stakes.
GG tipster Joe Napier has selected our lucky 15 tips from the track, with a quartet of best bets at the Goodwood festival.
Goodwood Racing Tips (Thursday 30 July)
Day three of Glorious Goodwood includes eight races for racegoers and viewers to enjoy. All four of our lucky 15 tips run at the big festival on Thursday.
2.25 Goodwood – Cut A Dash (1pt win – 7/2)
It may be that Flann Sunna is on his way to the top, but a number of his rivals already have big race experience. One of those is Cut A Dash, fourth in the Coventry at Royal Ascot in which Adaay Of Scarlett and Night In Vegas finished second and fifth and reoppose. However, Richard Hannon’s charge is chosen having briefly been short of room before staying on strongest of all bar the winner. The son of Starspangledbanner can reverse form with Adaay Of Scarlett on that evidence. His trainer has already struck this week at Goodwood too.
3.00 Goodwood – Enceladus (1pt win – 3/1)
The Epsom Derby form has generally been well advertised. However, Bay Of Brilliance put in a worrying effort in the German equivalent since, so while this looks a winnable edition of the Gordon Stakes, he is opposable. The most likely danger is the improving Enceladus for Joseph O’Brien. O’Brien’s County Kilkenny yard is operating at a strike rate 5% above its rolling five-year average. Enceladus was responsible for a victory to help that percentage, scoring in the King George V Stakes at the royal meeting. That was only a handicap victory off a mark of 89, but that race usually points towards a useful horse. He was well-backed that day under Ryan Moore and saw out 1m4f well. He should do so again here and be tough to pass.
4.10 Goodwood – Old Is Gold (1pt win – 11/1)
It is a matter of time before things click in a big way with Old Is Gold. The Mehmas gelding won Beverley’s Two-Year-old Trophy last term and was third in a 6f nursery off top-weight here at this meeting 12 months ago. He had previously gone off favourite for the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot, finishing a respectable eighth, while his final run at two can be forgiven with him being drawn badly at York. Andrew Balding’s runner is clearly a character, as he blew his chance at the start at Sandown on return. He has since been withdrawn due to antics in the stalls, but his experiences in 2026 will hopefully have improved him mentally. He went off favourite at Sandown is now 1lb lower than for his nursery place here a year ago. Given 5f looks a better trip for him, he may be about to explode.
5.20 Goodwood – So Lovely (1pt win – 5/4)
Although Aidan O’Brien’s form is poor by his lofty standards, So Lovely should have every chance of getting off the mark here. O’Brien won this two years ago and the selection is another superbly-bred filly. She is the first foal of five-time Group 1 winner Love to meet a racecourse. She is by Wootton Bassett too, so will undoubtedly improve as this season goes on. Her runner-up effort on debut came behind an Evens favourite of Joseph O’Brien’s who already had experience. Given Aidan’s almost always improve for the run, she should prove a different prospect here. None of her rivals have comparable form yet anyway and it would be a shock if she were beaten.
