Leg 1: 1.20pm Goodwood – Coral Pipped At The Post Winners Handicap
Leg 1 Selections: (2) Sing Us A Song
There are quite a few recent winners taking in this opening handicap, with Sudu the likeliest to improve further still. However, Sing Us A Song can easily be forgiven his ninth at Royal Ascot given he missed the break. He went off favourite for the King George V Handicap, won by a horse who had Group 1 entries and in which the second then filled the same position in the Irish Derby. The selection was carrying the same weight as the latter and likely put in a comparable performance given his track position and can surely rate higher still, especially if ironing out any issues from the gate.
Leg 2: 1.55pm Goodwood – HKJC World Pool Oak Tree Stakes (Group 3)
Leg 2 Selections: (9) Arabian Dusk, (13) Silver Ghost
With three-year-olds having such a fine recent record in this race, a couple of that age group at big prices make the most appeal for Placepot purposes. Arabian Dusk ran a belter for fourth over 6f at York last time out given she was drawn in stall 11 (first three home were in stalls 3, 4 and 2) and she shaped as if the step up to 7f will now prove beneficial. She has some classy form in the book.
The other worth siding with could be the lowest-rated filly in Silver Ghost. She has a bit to make up with Tabiti on paper from her ninth-placed effort in the Sandringham Stakes, but that rival proved to be drawn ideally, while Emma Lavelle’s charge was on the wrong wing. She had previously bolted up over course and distance in a handicap working out well.
Leg 3: 2.30pm Goodwood – HKJC World Pool Molecomb Stakes (Group 3)
Leg 3 Selections: (3) Lady Iman
Although she is penalised against the boys here, Lady Iman’s form stacks up extremely strongly and she should be able to hold her own off level weights. Ger Lyons’ filly won her first three, including beating two-time subsequent Group race scorer True Love at Listed level at the Curragh, and although she has won over 6f since, her only defeat so far has come at that distance. Even then, she was beaten only by a Ballydoyle rival and she should be more at home back at 5f.

Leg 4: 3.05pm Goodwood – Visit Qatar Sussex Stakes (Group 1)
Leg 4 Selections: (5) Field Of Gold
Only seven runners distinctly limits the appeal of finding one to finish in the places behind Field Of Gold, so it is worth simply backing by far the likeliest winner to deliver. The Gosden grey has been breathtaking on his previous two starts and looks as if he can adapt for any tactics at this trip now that his 2000 Guineas blip is firmly in the rearview mirror. If he shows up in the form he displayed at Ascot, no rival will get within three lengths of him.
Leg 5: 3.45pm Goodwood – British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies’ Handicap
Leg 5 Selections: (7) Music Piece, (11) Wonder Star
This is tricky, with two selections advised from different strands of form. Firstly, Music Piece was second over course and distance in Listed company two starts back for Andrew Balding, who won this in 2021. She disappointed in her first handicap start since, but that was over 1m4f and the drop back in trip. That Listed race is mixed in terms of form, but some of it is working out and a repeat effort could see her in the money.
Conversely, Wonder Star is unexposed for William Haggas and could easily rate higher than a mark of 82. After a lowkey debut at two, she won in fine style at Ascot in May, with a literal line through the runner-up suggesting that was a particularly strong effort. She disappointed in a Newbury Listed race next time out, but that was just eight days later and she should be revitalised here after a break.
Leg 6: 4.20pm Goodwood – British Stallion Studs EBF Alice Keppel Fillies’ Conditions Stakes
Leg 6 Selections: (5) Luna Mia
Zelaina may lead them a merry dance here as this easy 5f plays to her zippy strengths. However, an intriguing alternative is Luna Mia, who drops in trip for Irish trainer Michael O’Callaghan. She was beaten only in the dying strides on debut, then finished fourth of six in what could prove to be a very strong Group 2 at the Curragh over 6f. She has a very speedy pedigree though, so the drop back to 5f could well suit and she may be able to run down the favourite.
