Leg 1: 1.20pm – Coral Glorious Stakes
Leg 1 Selections: (1) Al Aasy
A comfortable one-length winner of this race 12 months ago, Al Aasy will be looking to retain his crown on Saturday in the Glorious Stakes, and if he can produce his best then he looks to be too good for his rivals. He showed the fire still burns bright when winning the Brigadier Gerard Stakes at Sandown earlier in the campaign and while he was down the field in the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot back in June, this contest is much easier and he can storm to victory for William Haggas and Jim Crowley.
Leg 2: 1.55pm – Coral Summer Handicap
Leg 2 Selections: (5) Artistic Star, (8) French Duke
A hugely competitive 1m 6f staying handicap takes place at 1.55pm and punters will be scratching their head trying to work out this contest, so it’s worth going into battle with a brace of selections. Artistic Star was well backed last time out at Newbury, but could only finish second over 2m. A drop back in trip here should prove a real positive and he has the potential to go close at big odds. French Duke was well fancied for the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes, but was disappointing that day, but if he can emulate the run from before that effort when he was second then he has to be a notable runner.
Leg 3: 2.30pm – Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes
Leg 3 Selections: (6) Sueno
Term Of Endearment bounded to success in this race last season, but the William Haggas-trained raider could prove vulnerable in this year’s contest and the one to side with is John & Thady Gosden’s Sueno. The four-year-old daughter of Camelot may only have a Wolverhampton novice win on her CV, but she’s only been on the track five times and was last seen finishing second in a listed contest at Newmarket. That came in good to soft going, so she should have no real issue with any rain that could hit Goodwood after Thursday’s barrage, and having finished third in the Bronte Cup at York she has shown she has plenty of stamina to be fighting it out at the finish here.

Leg 4: 3.05pm – Coral Stewards’ Cup
Leg 4 Selections: (5) Elmonjed, (16) Circe
With 28 runners heading to the 6f start for the Stewards’ Cup at 3.05pm it’s going to be a fascinating sprint showpiece on Saturday afternoon. A wide open betting heat will give punters a real challenge and this sort of race could be a real Tote Placepot buster. We opt for a brace of selections and the first of those is Elmonjed, who won the Sky Bet Dash Handicap last time out, and will have to carry a 6lbs penalty for that success. It’s going to be a tough ask, but he heads to Goodwood in great form and has to be considered. Richard Hannon’s Circe has been in tremendous form in recent times and has racked up three wins from her last four outings. She’s been given another 6lbs rise for a York win, so going to need a career best to land this prize, but she is in the form of her life and is more than capable of continuing he progression.
Leg 5: 3.45pm – Whispering Angel Handicap
Leg 5 Selections: (7) Consolidation
Ralph Beckett’s Consolidation was a winner at Goodwood two starts ago, but the Too Darn Hot gelding was unable to build on that effort when down the field in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot. He wasn’t disgraced that day when 10th in the Britannia, as he found himself on the far side of the track and it was the stands side that dominated the first few places. He takes his chance off a mark of 95 again here, so is entitled to improve on that Ascot run and he can certainly grab a place in this event.
Leg 6: 4.20pm – British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes
Leg 6 Selections: (9) Isaac Newton
Aidan O’Brien has saddled some tremendous juvenile winners this season and he will unleash another exciting two-year-old prospect in the 4.20pm maiden contest in the shape of Isaac Newton. Second on his sole racecourse start behind stablemate New Zealand, this Camelot colt holds an entry in the Group 2 Futurity Stakes at the Curragh at the end of the month and could be one with Classic plans next season. He’s sure to improve on that promising debut effort and he’s the confident selection in a race awash with potential.
