Leg 1: 1.20pm – Coral Chesterfield Cup Handicap
Leg 1 Selections: (14) Take Heart, (16) Castle Cove
It’s a hugely competitive contest to kick off the day’s action and with a bumper field going to post for the Chesterfield Cup then it could be wise to pick two selections in leg one. A winner of this race 12 months ago, Take Heart lines up off the same mark of 95 for this year’s contest and has to be respected, if he can recapture the same sort of form. The William Haggas-trained Castle Cove is a lightly-raced four-year-old, who has two wins from four starts so far. A winner at Chester last time out, where he beat Grey Cuban, Castle Cove looks capable of continuing on an upward curve and has to be well fancied to figure prominently.
Leg 2: 1.55pm – Coral Vintage Stakes
Leg 2 Selections: (4) Dorset
Aidan O’Brien can claim his third win in the Vintage Stakes with a hugely exciting juvenile in the shape of Dorset, who is one win from two starts and looks a classy youngster. A one-and-a-half length winner of a Curragh maiden last time out, the son of Wootton Bassett beat a next-time-out winner in the shape of Benevenuto Cellino and Dorset looks like there could be a lot more to come. Zavateri and Humidity have a high level of form and could prove to be big challengers, but Dorset could be a cut above those unbeaten rivals and can land this prize for Ballydoyle.
Leg 3: 2.30pm – HKJC World Pool Lennox Stakes
Leg 3 Selections: (11) Jonquil, (12) Noble Champion
John and Thady Gosden’s Audience will attempt to retain his Lennox Stakes crown at 2.30pm, but he could struggle to claim victory again and it’s worth siding with two runners in this year’s contest. The first is Andrew Balding’s Jonquil, who was last seen finishing way down the field in the Commonwealth Cup but the former Greenham Stakes winner will relish a step up to seven furlongs and is very smart on his day. Ed Walker’s Noble Champion is the second pick and this second three-year-old was last seen bounding to victory in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot and he could be open to more improvement and has to be considered for a wide open event.

Leg 4: 3.05pm – Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup Stakes
Leg 4 Selections: (3) Illinois
Aidan O’Brien’s Illinois was no match for Trawlerman in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot back in June, but the Ballydoyle stayer can bounce back to winning ways on Tuesday and storm to victory in the Goodwood Cup at 3.05pm. Having landed the prize with Kyprios in two of the last three seasons, the Ballydoyle team are on the look out for a new staying star and in Illinois they have a multiple Group winner that excels over marathon distances and he can get the better of stablemate Scandinavia here.
Leg 5: 3.45pm – Coral Golden Rewards Shaker Handicap
Leg 5 Selections: (5) Redorange, (8) Regal Envoy
Another competitive betting heat takes place in the penultimate race of the Tote Placepot at 3.45pm, but one that stands out is Redorange, who is a hugely consistent performer and can go very close again here. Third at Royal Ascot two starts ago, Clive Cox’s charge then finished 4th in another competitive race at the same Berkshire track, but he still looks to be on a workable mark and has the capabilities of landing this prize. Back-to-back wins at Windsor saw Regal Envoy rack up some notable successes, but while he was unable to land the hat-trick at York last time out he’s one that could bounce back quickly and is a decent value play in this.
Leg 6: 4.20pm – British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes
Leg 6 Selections: (9) Naval Light
An expensive breeze-up purchase, Naval Light ran a shade disappointingly on his second start in the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot, when coming eighth. However, he had shown on debut when second at Beverley that he does have a lot of class and he could be one that breaks his duck in the maiden contest at 4.20pm. A race that can throw up a good winner, Karl Burke’s charge can duly win this contest before going on to bigger and better things.
