Six meetings take place across the UK and Ireland on Thursday. There is Listed action at Leopardstown, though it is to the domestic action that we focus our lucky 15 tips on.
GG tipster Joe Napier’s four best bets come from Hamilton and Lingfield to combine for our lucky 15 for Thursday.
Hamilton Racing Tips (Thursday 4 June)
Hamilton’s feature is a class 2 handicap in the middle of the card. We have a selection in that race as well as in the penultimate race.
3.51 Hamilton – Altareq (1pt win – 4/1)
Although Eternal Force could still rank higher, his seventh in the Lincoln was only passable. The even less exposed Altareq has changed hands for this season, but ran an excellent race on debut for Jim Goldie at York. He has raced only four times, three of them in maiden and novice company for the Gosdens. He was second at Newbury on his last run for them before almost exactly a year off the track. In that time, he moved north to Goldie’s yard, for whom he was third in a 15-runner handicap on reappearance. That was a bold run to be beaten just over a length. He showed signs of freshness from a wide draw, emerging from miles behind to threaten late on. Although that was over 1m2½f, the drop back to a little over 1m is no negative. He clearly has a change of gears and can defy a 5lb rise in this higher grade with Lauren Young’s claim ensuring he carries little on his back.
4.51 Hamilton – Perseus Way (1pt win – 7/1)
The seven-year-old Perseus Way can emerge victorious on his first flat run for Tristan Davidson. He managed to win over course and distance last season despite showing no form anywhere else. He beat 13 rivals that day too, so it was no small achievement. Since joining Davidson, he has been rejuvenated over hurdles. He was third at Hexham over 2m on good ground, then won on soft over 2m4f. Cut in the ground is no issue and any test at this trip brings his stamina into play. He is only 1lb above his winning mark from last term and may prove a different animal now.
Lingfield Racing Tips (Thursday 4 June)
Lingfield hosts an eight-race meeting on the all-weather on Thursday evening. We have two tips at the track for our lucky 15.
5.40 Lingfield – Peregrine Falcon (1pt win – 11/4)
Peregrine Falcon is winless in 14 career starts, but he may not have many better chances than in this race. He faces six rivals who are either out of form or poorly treated by the handicapper. The son of Showcasing has gone close enough times to suggest he will at some point break his duck. One of those came in maiden company at Newcastle on Valentine’s Day. He was third of four, but beaten only by a short-head. He was facing better horses than these and he is forgiven a lesser effort at Southwell since. He had been off the track for more than three months, but should be fitter here. A mark of 62 should be too lenient.
6.40 Lingfield – Raspoutine (1pt win – 10/3)
Lexington Express beat Raspoutine two starts ago, but there is a 3lb swing on today’s terms. Sir Mark Prescott’s runner went up 6lb for that nose defeat, but could easily have threatened at Salisbury but for racing too keen upped in trip. However, he should have no issues staying 1m2f on pedigree and blinkers go on to help him settle. If they have the desired effect, he should continue to rise through the ranks. Lexington Express has won again since, hence the swing at the weights. That also proves the selection has good form in the book and may have more after this race.
