Three different tracks host racing live on ITV as Saturday looks a treat for racing fans. The Group 1 Sprint Cup and Group 3 September Stakes, featuring Constitution Hill, are the highlights, but there is top class racing from the outset.
GG tipster Joe Napier has our lucky 15 tips for this weekend. His selections race at Haydock and Kempton.
Haydock Racing Tips (Saturday 5 September)
The Sprint Cup undercard looks a strong one at Haydock this weekend. Two of our lucky 15 tips run at the Lancashire track.
1.25 Haydock – The Lost King (1pt win – 7/1)
In a race in which none of the established Group race operators appear superstars, The Lost King can emerge successfully from handicaps. The King Power four-year-old only ran five times at the ages of two and three. 2026 has been much busier, with him having won four of the eight races he has contested. Two of those were on the all-weather earlier this campaign, seeing his mark rise 7lb. He initially struggled to maintain that form on turf, but has recently improved upon anything prior in his last two races. He won well over 1m at York in July, then repeated the trick at the Ebor meeting up 6lb. That was his first experience on ground softer than good and he appeared to relish it, winning by 2½ lengths. He maintained a strong gallop throughout and looks well worth his place up in grade now. His recent surge in form can continue.
2.30 Haydock – Galilean Quality (1pt win – 2/1)
After a game effort in the Melrose Stakes at York, Galilean Quality can go one better here. Karl Burke’s charge has been a likeable improver from race to race almost throughout his career. After a win in a match, the a third at Chester, he has won twice, at Wolverhampton and Ascot, and run big races either side at the royal meeting and the Ebor Festival. His sixth in the King George V Stakes was a great effort in the circumstances. The same can be said of his runner-up finish in the Melrose Stakes, coming from the clouds late on. A 5lb rise is slightly harsh, but that was a much more competitive race than this. He is still on the upgrade, stays this far and likes soft ground. He can therefore defy top-weight.
Kempton Racing Tips (Saturday 5 September)
Constitution Hill’s presence will light up Kempton on Saturday. Our two lucky 15 tips at the track run elsewhere though, with one each in handicap and Group company.
2.20 Kempton – Warrior Mode (1pt win – 13/2)
Sir Mark Prescott’s Warrior Mode is not a typical horse for the yard in terms of stamina. However, he may well prove to be in terms of blooming late. The four-year-old has only raced seven times, starting his career well last term. His 2025 petered out though, with disappointing efforts at Haydock and Kempton preceding wind surgery and a gelding operation. Since returning, his resurgent form pays a compliment to those operations. A third over 7f at Newmarket was followed by a convincing win over track and trip. Others in this field have similar form, but the selection is up only 4lb for that win last month. That may prove generous from the handicapper as there looks to be more to come.
3.20 Kempton – Agamemnon (1pt win – 6/1)
The filly Moonrise carries a 3lb penalty to go off level weights with the boys here. She has proven class, but others may prove superior on these terms. One example is Agamemnon for Richard Hughes. The Mehmas colt won his only race on the all-weather so far. He has also done well in strong races, with form of 324 going steadily up in grade between Listed and Group 2 company the last thrice. He finished ahead of Adaay Of Scarlett last time out and can confirm that form here as a strong stayer at 6f who is established on this type of surface. His profile as a whole is the strongest on display.
