Haydock & Southwell Racing Tips - Andrew Mount's Best Bets for Thursday 3 September

Andrew Mount has a brace of tips on Thursday 3 September, as he heads to Haydock and Southwell for his best bets of the day. Check out his best bets of the day below…

Haydock Racing Tips (Thursday 3 September 2026)

Seven races make up Haydock’s flat card today, with the action getting under way at 1.30pm. However, you have to wait until the 4.25pm contest for Andrew’s best bet on the card.

4.25 Haydock – Hoseki (1pt win – 11/8 bet365, William Hill)

Three-year-olds have won five of the six runnings of this 1m2f Class 3 fillies’ handicap and Hoseki, who had excuses when beaten at the Shergar Cup meeting last month, looks the pick of the classic generation this year. The William Haggas-trained daughter of Saxon Warrior has improved since stepped up to 1m2f or further, recording form figures of 1114 (3-4), including a two from two return in fillies’ handicaps. She was sent off at just 13-8 for the Shergar Cup Classic at Ascot but was left with too much to do, finishing fourth after a wide trip (“held up in rear, raced wide on turn over 3f out”) behind runners described as “in touch with leaders”, “led” and “prominent”. Her wins have come on faster going but she ran with credit on a soft surface on her juvenile debut and conditions should be fine.

Southwell Racing Tips (Thursday 3 September 2026)

A bumper eight-race card takes place at Southwell, with the racing on the all-weather beginning at 4.30pm. Andrew’s best bet lines up in the 7.40pm event.

7.40 Southwell – Korbut (1pt win – 2/1 bet365, 15/8 general)

Korbut was a big eyecatcher in a 7f Class 4 handicap at Southwell’s meeting on July 27th, going down by a neck in second place from the worst of the draw (stall 1 of 10) at odds of 12-1. There was a strong stands’ rail bias that day, favouring those drawn middle to high, and Sir Mark Prescott’s filly has since won a three-runner maiden at Ffos Las. She returns to Southwell off a 1lb higher mark than for that narrow defeat and is down to Class 5 level here. She clocked a fast time for the Ffos Las win and can follow up from what looks a useful draw in stall 8 of 9. Chale Chalo finished eighth in the same course and distance contest at Korbut on July 27th and, while not poorly drawn that day, he challenged on the slowest part of the track. He’s been strong in the market overnight and could be the one for the forecast.
