Hereford Racing Tips (Sunday 22 February 2026)
Four hurdle races, two chases and a bumper makes up Hereford’s seven-race card. You have to wait until 3.10pm for Andrew’s best bet on the card.
3.10 Hereford – Immortal Fame (1pt win – 7/2 generally)
Immortal Fame ran as though his first two runs were needed this season and signalled that his turn was near when fourth at Warwick on New Year’s Eve (beaten by just under eight lengths) where he would have been closer but for some sloppy jumping. Everything clicked at Market Rasen next time where he scored by a head on what was only his second chase start over 3m or further. The first two finished well clear in a fast time that day and the switch to veterans’ handicap chase company is likely to suit. Ten-year-olds fare better than their older rivals in these contests and all bar main market rival Not Sure are aged 11 or older.
Naas Racing Tips (Sunday 22 February 2026)
Seven races also feature at Naas, but you have to wait until the final race on the card at 5pm for Andrew Mount’s selection at the Irish track.
5.00 Naas – Magic McColgan (0.5pt e/w – 9/1 bet365, 8/1 generally)
Magic McColgan landed a mares’ maiden hurdle at Punchestown 13 months ago despite jumping markedly out to her left on the right-handed track, with her wayward hurdling getting worse as the race progressed. She was also far from fluent when runner-up at right-handed Cork the time before that and when an odds-on flop (third of seven) at Perth last spring. I took a chance and backed her in a course and distance beginners’ chase in mid-December – her first chase outing on a left-handed track – but she was desperately weak in the betting and her 40-length sixth looked to be just the second rung on the handicapping ladder. She showed more when a 12-lengthj 25-1 second in a mares’ beginners’ chase here last time and looks worth chancing now running in a handicap chase for the first time.
