Available at prohibitive odds, Nicky Henderson’s star is the main attraction, but we veer away from him and pick out some alternative selections at Kempton. Hexham Racing Tips (Wednesday 25 March 2026)
Seven races get under way at Hexham at 2.11pm on Wednesday. The feature race on the card being the rescheduled 4m Hexham Marathon at 3.41pm.
3.11 Hexham – Caramelo Rapido (1pt win – 6/1)
Mark Walford’s Caramelo Rapido got his head in front at the ninth time of asking last time out. The seven-year-old stormed to a three-and-three-quarter length success at Doncaster and is bidding for more success in the 3.11pm at Hexham. He’s been given a notable 5lbs rise by the handicapper for that success. He certainly showed positive signs that day that he’s open for more improvement. He will need to kick on from that success, but plenty line up out of form, so it’s worth sticking with Walford’s charge in a competitive betting heat.
3.41 Hexham – Wal Buck’s (1pt win – 100/30)
A 34-length winner at Kelso two starts ago, Wal Buck’s failed to follow up at Haydock on his last outing, but with stamina proven he’s one that is sure to be fighting out for victory in the closing stages of the Hexham Marathon at 3.41pm. Lucinda Russell & Michael Scudamore’s charge is only 4lbs higher than that last winning mark, so if he can replicate that run then he has to be considered. He will have the burden of top weight here and in Planned Paradise he faces a progressive stayer. However, he’s one that on his day has to be respected in these sort of events and he could well storm clear late on.
Kempton Racing Tips (Wednesday 25 March 2026)
Constitution Hill will line up in the 7.30pm race at Kempton on Wednesday night. We look elsewhere on the card for two bets for the evening all-weather action.
5.00 Kempton – Horus (1pt win – 5/1)
Rated in the 70s as a juvenile, Horus has plummeted down the weights in recent seasons. Now set to line up in the 5.00pm at Kempton off 51 the Mick Attwater-trained raider has to be given a chance in a lowly opener. It will be his first run for Attwater and he immediately puts the first-time visor on the four-year-old for this event. He put in his best run in a while last time out at Kempton, when finishing fourth. Dropped a further 1lb to a mark of 51, he’s one that has to be considered, if he can somehow recapture his two-year-old form.
7.00 Kempton – Thestral (1pt win – 3/1)
A cracking 1m handicap takes place at 7pm with a host of improvers lining up. Charlie Johnston’s Just A Gambler and the William Muir & Chris Grassick-trained Ebn Sabt both look horses on the upgrade, but the one that catches the eye is Hugo Palmer’s Thestral. A comfortable winner at Newcastle back in December on his second start, the Dream Ahead gelding will now look to make it two wins on the bounce. He will step up to a mile for the first time. He wasn’t stopping over seven furlongs last time out, so the trip should be fine. Given a mark of 68, he’s one that is likely to improve again and has to be the selection.
