PERFECT POWER (2.30 Ascot, 1pt each-way, 16/1)
A great looking opener with a chance taken on PERFECT POWER at a price for Richard Fahey. He offered plenty of promise on debut at Newcastle with a staying-on third after falling out of the gates and then improved when taking a minor event at Hamilton in very taking style.
This race has plenty of pace in it, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the selection out-paced in the early stages, but I’d have no doubt he will be strong at the finish, and this stiff 5f at Ascot looks ideal. Another jolt of improvement is needed, but this £110,000 breeze-up purchase certainly has more to come, and the experience of two runs under his belt will do him a world of good.

MOVIN TIME (3.05 Ascot, 1pt win, 7/2)
Mohaafeth will be tough to beat but MOVIN TIME was very impressive on seasonal return when taking care of two useful rivals at Newmarket in Kemari and Magical Land.
He offered plenty of promise at two, and he is entitled to take a big step forward for his reappearance effort. This track and the step up in trip will both suit, and I am not entirely sure that is the case for today’s favourite, so a chance is taken.

ANNERVILLE (3.40 Ascot, 1pt each-way, 33/1)
I’ve been tracking these fillies for most of the season, and I lost a bit of faith in Noon Star after her below-par effort at York. On the balance the form in this race at the top of the market is not that strong.
ANNERVILLE was very impressive on debut when denied a clear run from the rear of the field. She would have almost certainly made that first appearance a winning one, and she confirmed her promise when running away with a contest at the same venue next time in easy fashion.
The time figure was a fraction slower than the 96 rated winner on the card and much slower than Bolshoi Ballet’s win, but she almost certainly suggested she had more in the tank. She may be worth chancing in a field that is more open than the betting offers.

SUMMA PETO (5.00 Ascot, 0.5pt each-way, 22/1)
SUMMA PETO is worth keeping on side after winning for us at Wolverhampton last time, and he still looks ahead of the assessor after a 9lbs rise. He was thought highly of last term as a two-year-old, enough to contest the Listed Pat Eddery Stakes here won by Chindit.
He was too green and babyish then and looks an improved model this term, so with a good high draw and a prominent ride likely, he certainly has more to come.

AKMAAM (5.00 Ascot, 0.5pt each-way, 66/1)
AKMAAM is undoubtedly better than what he showed on seasonal return at Newmarket, and on both occasions, he hasn’t looked in love with that track. He has had three starts, two of which at Newmarket in highly competitive Group 3 races since he bolted up by 4 lengths over Siam Fox here on debut.
That form has worked out well, and a return to this venue (flatter track) should see the long-striding type to better effect. He wasn’t disgraced at Newmarket in the Autumn Stakes behind One Ruler when doing best of those on the front end of the pace on unfavourable soft ground, and this faster surface will play to his strengths.

NAGANO (5.35 Ascot, 1pt win, 12/1)
NAGANO could easily prove ahead of the handicapper off this opening mark of 94 now upped further in trip, and he showed an excellent attitude for us to get on top of Peter The Great at Newcastle last time.
He is very progressive, and I am not willing to let him go just yet, especially on handicap debut at a track that will suit him well.

ACT OF WISDOM (5.35 Ascot, 1pt each-way, 28/1)
ACT OF WISDOM looks just the right type for this, and his price is insulting given his steadily progressive nature, and, likely, he has not even run over his optimum trip yet. He caught the eye behind Mohaafeth at Newmarket when looking in need of the run but stuck on well when looking as though he would drop out.
He is a strong stayer and this contest really stretches the stamina, so he could be just the type needed for this on the back of a gelding operation.
BACK ACT OF WISDOM HERE AND GET UP TO £100 IN FREE BETS
ALDAARY (6.10 Ascot, 2.5pt win, 6/1)
I am in danger of getting over-excited with this horse, but I must remember that these races are some of the most competitive throughout the season. ALDAARY, however, has looked right out of the top draw. He lost his unbeaten record when drawn in the car park and held up in a steadily run race and then forced wide around the bend at Goodwood last time.
He caught the eye, making swift ground up on the leaders (only horse to come out of the pack) but failed to pick them up. He was extremely impressive here on seasonal return, taking care of Big Narstie (95 even he went up 3lbs), giving him 6lbs. He is the sole three-year-old in the race and gets a concession of 9lbs from his rivals, effectively allowing him to run off a handicap mark of 96.
He recorded an RPR here of 111, and a repeat of that will see him run away with this contest. He gets the first time tongue-tie now, which can bring out further improvement, has a high draw in 21 and the last three-year-old to contest this race won in 2010. This is the fastest ground he has encountered, but his action and breeding suggest it will be no problem with any rain due to take out the sting only beneficial.
