Daryl Carter brings a quartet of runners for a fabulous Friday of racing. Check out his bets below,
.
[HEY MR] – (2.10 Carlisle, 1pt win – 2/1)
HEY MR was well supported at York but found himself on the wrong side of the track, so his third can be upgraded, and that contest looks as though it will work out well with the time figure well above average.
Today’s race represents a drop-in class, and he is back soft ground and is race fit, so a bigger performance can be expected from him in calmer waters against more exposed rivals.
[BACK HEY MR]
[OTTONIAN] – (4.20 Carlisle, 1pt win – 11/1)
OTTONIAN represents a good bit of value here after he caught the eye at Chester when denied a clear run behind Green Book. He would have finished much closer to the winner, granted a clear passage.
That form does still leave him something to find with today’s odds on fav, but that one is turned out quickly and is 1lb out of the handicap under this five-pound penalty. This race could set up nicely for the selection, and Ella McCain’s 5lb claim is a big help. Unexposed, he is open to improvement, so he gets the vote.
[BACK OTTONIAN]
[DALANIJUJO] – (4.45 Yarmouth, 1pt each-way – 6/1)
DALANIJUJO is a horse I have been waiting to reappear, and the booking of Tom Marquand by this trainer signals that she is ready first time up. Her form as a three-year-old is rock solid and makes her look very well treated, taking on more exposed types.
She can race freely, but this is a weak enough Class 4 race, and she is surely going to be applying her trade at a higher level sooner rather than later.
[BACK DALANIJUJO]
[MONTE CARLO BAY] – (8.30 Haydock, 1pt win – 10/1)
MONTE CARLO BAY has shown signs of apparent ability in his three runs to date, but he has clearly been trained with handicaps in mind, and today he makes his handicap debut off what looks like a lenient opening handicap mark of 72.
On his last two starts, he has been the only horse to make any headway from the back of the field, and at Salisbury on his latest start, the jockey was mindful not to get too close. Hollie Doyle has now been booked, and he must be of interest, especially if he is given a more prominent role in today’s race as suspected.
[BACK MOTE CARLO BAY]
