CASTLE ROBIN (1.15 Cheltenham, 1pt each-way 8/1)
This open is as tough as it gets at this level but CASTLE ROBIN makes plenty of appeal with two races already under his belt this term, including a win on his last start at Carlisle in a good time in comparison to the other races on the card.
The third horse had not been beaten far by Topofthecotswolds (132) prior and the time figure was 1.64 lengths quicker than the 2m race on the same card won by Kaizer (121) and was only 2.36 lengths slower than the 2m race won by Ribble Valley (141) despite running over four furlongs further.
He can find himself unlucky not to have been unbeaten this term given he was hampered at Warwick in the closing stages after doing best of those on the front end after setting a very good pace. The fifth came out and finished a good third at Chepstow behind the exciting Star Gate and Everglow and the second finished a close third at Exeter behind Bobehopeornohope (120) and Ask A Honey Bee with the three a mile clear of the remainder.
He is open to progress, will be ridden prominently and should be playing a hand at the finish on handicap debut off an opening mark of 119.

POLISH (3.35 Cheltenham, 0.5pts each-way 12/1)
The early-season form is hard to gauge and today’s favourite looks useful but his rating may be inflated and therefore he looks short enough in the market.
POLISH looks to have been underestimated at double-figure odds and he wasn’t given enough credit for his excellent third here at the Open Meeting after making two almost race-ending mistakes with the latter coming at a crucial time in the race.
That form looks a little more reliable at this stage and he is unlucky not to have won that race. He had some strong form from last season and wasn’t seen to best effect on soft ground at Newcastle or Taunton so remains unexposed on a sounder surface and represents a trainer that won this race in 2018.
He will need a career best but he has a bigger performance in him and today could be the day in a race that is asking for an upset.

ART APPROVAL (4.05 Cheltenham, 1pt each-way 11/1)
ART APPROVAL is the first of two to back in this race and the Fergal O’Brien trained four-year-old is of interest on the back of his run here in a maiden durdle behind Faivoir (128).
He did the best of those held up off a sedate pace but he made eyecatching progress coming down the hill and was badly hampered by a faller hitting the ground directly in front of him. He almost came to a standstill but was kept up to the task and did well in the circumstances to only be beaten five and a half lengths and on that basis alone this opening mark of 118 looks lenient.
He is worth chancing to improve again today with course experience giving him a vital edge and this stiff 2m should suit if he is ridden prominently.

LEROY LEROY (4.05 Cheltenham, 1pt each-way 11/1)
LEROY LEROY is another I want to keep on side here with his form working out remarkably well for a race of this level. He is off top weight but his form lines are by far the strongest on offer in this race. A winner of his last two starts in which both have been boosted by the horses in behind and his Uttoxeter neck second to October Open meeting winner Captain Tom Cat (127) looks even better now.
