INDUNO – (12.35 Chepstow, 2pts win – 9/4) (NAP)
INDUNO has a fair record fresh, so the absence is of little concern, and the wind operation is another reason to be positive about his chances here. He sits on a very, very lenient handicap mark of 113 on the balance of his form to date.
It doesn’t matter where you look; he has beaten horses rated higher than himself, and his fourth at Cheltenham when last seen doesn’t look too shabby either, with the winner now rated 129. That race produced a few next time out winners, but in his Novice races, he beat horses now rated 125, 120 and 136 – just three to note.
He surely is better than this handicap mark, and David Pipe can ready one first time out. The booking of Tom Scudamore is a big positive, and Pipe has a 20% strike rate here at Chepstow.

FLEGMATIK – (2.05 Ascot, 1pt win – 4/1 bet365)
Guy has been well found in the market, but I am more interested in FLEGMATIK, who was very unfortunate at time last season off higher marks, has a good record off the back of a break and has recorded some good time figures.
The handicapper has started to relent, and he is now back on his last winning handicap mark, for which he won first time out last season. He looks like one of the better-handicapped horses in the field and is a very reasonable price, providing he runs better than he did here last term.

CAPTAIN MORGS – (2.40 Ascot, 1pt win – 5/2 Will Hils)
it’s hard to get away from CAPTAIN MORGS, who disappointed me in all honesty at Cheltenham, but there is good reason to think he will improve on that effort.
This is a step up in grade, but the stronger pace on offer in here should suit on this drop back in trip, and that was a good effort on reflection at Cheltenham when taking into account the time figure (knocked three seconds off the course record).
He is entitled to improve for fitness for his latest outing, and he has some good form to his name, which suggests he is better than a mark of 125. We have already picked out a winner from that race, the fourth; although he was in much calmer waters than this, Captain Morgs will surely leave this mark behind him in due course.
Leoncavallo split two very smart rivals here last time and is feared, but that race 20 days ago must have left a mark on him.
