PENDLETON has been frustrating to back granted, but the return to 6f looks a good move on the latest evidence, and he was better than the bare result behind Illusionist at York doing best (other than the winner) from the rear of the field when it paid to be on the pace.
His last effort under today’s conditions of 6f and soft ground saw him a two length second behind Bielsa here at Doncaster before going on to run a nose behind today’s favourite Fresh at Ascot.
His best performances have also come with the first time or reapplication of the headgear with form figures of 2 and 1, and should the first time blinkers bring out further improvement, he has very little to find to land this contest.

BUXTED TOO -(3:50 Doncaster, 1pt each-way – 16/1)
BUXTED TOO is far too big of a price here now dropped back to a more suitable trip. He may be a maiden, but this contest is not strong at all, and he was better than the bare result in the Shergar Cup when doing well from off a slow pace at the rear of the field.
This is far weaker than his last run at this trip when not getting a clear run at Sandown back in July. Soft ground will be no issue for him, and he should go close at a reasonable price.

GIFTED RULER – (16:30 Newbury, 1pt each-way – 16/1)
Molls Memory will prove popular but GIFTED RULER has very similar claims on his last run on soft ground at Haydock behind Young Fire. His best form has come on a soft surface, and it always pays to be drawn high here at Newbury, so stall 12 is a big positive.
He is still unexposed over 7f, so the drop back in trip looks a good move.

PRECISELY showed that he retained all of his ability on seasonal return at Yarmouth after 12 months off the track, and he is entitled to build on that performance when second behind one who had the run of the race and is a course specialist.
The winner chased home a progressive one next time at Newmarket, and the third went close also, so the form looks fair. The step up in trip should bring out further improvement, and he is highly likely to get a good clip to aim at here, and the ground should suit, so he gets the vote in this weak contest.
