A tight heat but an opportunity for MAHALE to score for the first time in 10 starts. Blue Moonrise arrives on a hattrick today but hasn’t looked entirely at home on the downhill part of this track, and her form ties in with the selection through Glamorous Breeze.
Glamorous Breeze is, however, now 11lbs better off with that one and looked at home quickening well on the downhill section here last month, but she was readily held by Mahale when they met at Windsor in May. Mahale wasn’t beaten too far at Brighton last time and shaped as though she may be about to hit a rich vein of form coming from an unpromising position. She offers a bit of value in this field, so it’s worth rolling the dice.

FENNAAN – (6:55 Ripon, 0.5pt each-way – 66/1)
Another chancy bet on a quiet Monday, but it may be worth taking a flyer on FENNAAN, who has been out of sorts for some time but, as a result, has fallen in the handicap and is now 11lbs below his last win (AW).
He may be a better horse on the all-weather (3-8), but he has shown his best form on turf here at Ripon, and he is now 13lbs lower than when touched off last August here in a good class 3 event. His form figures at Ripon read 6252, and he is off a career-low handicap mark into a Class 4. If today is not the day, perhaps lookout for a return to the AW and headgear.

TRINITY LAKE – (6:55 Ripon, 1pt win – 15/2)
TRINITY LAKE would be a more solid option after running a blinder last time at Thirsk depite being very free in the early stages, and confidence can be taken on the way he stuck on in the closing stages after being short of room.
A repeat wouldn’t see him too far away in this contest and this is a drop in grade back into a class 4. He is unexposed over 1m and is drawn well to gain a prominant position. This sharp track should suit him and he has some strong form in deat to suggest this mark is no beyond him so he gets the vote to get off the mark for the second time.
