Horse Racing Tips - Daryl Carter Best Bets On, Monday December 27th

Top tipster Daryl Carter has five selections on a busy day of racing, including two big priced runners at Chepstow. Check out his selections below which comes alongside an excellent sign-up offer courtesy of 888sport, who are offering a Bet £10 – Get £40 bonus.

KIMBERLITE CANDY (2.50 Chepstow, 1pt each-way, 33/1)

The first of three stabs at this, mainly because I found it difficult to choose and there is five places on offer with most bookmakers but also because of some bullish owners and trainers at Wincanton today.

KIMBERLITE CANDY has a big pot in him it’s hard to doubt that and time is now ticking for the nine-year-old. He is a very strong stayer highlighted by his win in the Classic Chase at Warwick over 3m5f on heavy ground last Jan off 140 and he has been sparingly raced since then (3 Aintree starts).

This track and this trip as well as the testing conditions looks tailor made for him. He boasts a course win by 10 lengths back in 2018 and the presents of Native River means the 150 rated chaser only carries 10st10. He has to be highlighted.

EVA’S OSKAR (2.50 Chepstow, 1pt each-way, 28/1)

I gave a good mention to EVA’S OSKAR on the podcast and it was encouraging to hear today from someone with Tim Vaughan at declaration time say, "he waited until the last 10 mins before deciding to have a go".

Fortune can favor the brave and the selection is a relentless galloper who will enjoy the ground and likes this course boasting 3 wins from his last 3 starts at Chepstow. Plenty of encouragement can be taken from his latest career best performance at Cheltenham and he is one to keep on side granted a bit of luck.

MORNING VICAR (3.10 Kempton, 1pt win, 8/1)

MORNING VICAR shaped as though he needed the run at Newbury on seasonal return and this step up in trip has always looked on the cards, so it looks like a good source of improvement. He is still very lightly raced and ended the campaign last term with an excellent win at Perth off just four pounds lower and given the second has since won a chase and a hurdle race, he could prove fairly treated still.

He caught the eye the way he traveled through the Kim Muir at the Cheltenham Festival before weakening between the second and the last. This sharp track should help given he is not short of speed and the ground is not as much of a worry as some will tell you. Canelo is interesting in a first time visor but his jumping is a worry along with Flegmatik at a track like this.

IMPERIAL ALCAZAR (3.25 Chepstow, 2pt win, 15/8)

IMPERIAL ALCAZAR was another who shaped as though he would improve for the run and it was encouraging to see him warm to fences throughout his debut run at Newbury and this looks like a great spot for him to get off the mark over fences at the second attempt.

He clearly bumped into a useful rival at Newbury, but today’s slower ground is a big positive to his chances and he has a very progressive/unexposed profile. He ticks plenty of boxes today and this is not the strongest contest he will face over fences in due course, so gets the vote.

JOHN LOCKE (3.40 Kempton, 2pt win, 3/1)

Dan Skelton won this race last year with Cadzand and JOHN LOCKE looks every bit as well-handicapped as that runner was. He makes his handicap debut today, the same as last years winner, and runs off a mark of 125 (4lbs lower than Cadzand) – but cleverly connections have kept Tristan Durrell on board to claim 7, meaning he is effectively off a mark of 118.

He arrives on his third start of the season (same as Cadzand) and on the back of an excellent Huntingdon performance in a first time tongue-tie. He failed to finish out his races on a couple of occasions last term in Grade 2 and Grade 1 company but they were not devoid of promise.

He also caught the eye at Cheltenham in October before faulting for fitness and could have significant untapped potential on his flat rating of 85. He looks the one to side with in this contest with it clearly having been the target.
