A sizeable field go to post for this 2m handicap hurdle so two darts are thrown in order to get the winner. ORKAN is the first of those after the 7yo clocked a useful time figure at Wetherby and took the scalp of two progressive horses.
The front three pulled clear of the field and the third had previously clocked a useful figure at the same venue so the form looks strong. A 4lb rise looks lenient, especially as he was giving 7lb to an unexposed 3yo in second, and he could have plenty more to offe after just 9 starts.

POP THE CORK is a horse I have been keen to follow of late and that’s because of his useful time figure at Wetherby and the form of his seasonal return race in that Class 3 looks strong.
He was caught for pace by an improver at Uttoxeter and then found the combination of the step up in trip and heavy ground at Wetherby all too much but he was better than the result as he was eased off at the second-last. There is a handicap in him and he now sneaks back into a Class 4 and takes on a field full of mostly exposed horses.
Amarillo Sky is a potential improver now handicapping but he hasn’t shaped as though he is ahead of his handicap mark so Song Of The Hunter may be the big danger.
