GROUP STAGE has been well beaten in three starts this term but the handicapper has relented somewhat and he now figures in a 0-125 race on a workable handicap mark of 121.
He stuck to the task well at Doncaster considering he raced in a hold-up position off a slow gallop in a good 0-140 race and the hope now is that the drop in grade along with the first-time cheekpieces can find improvement.
His novice hurdle form last term suggests this mark is well within range and a return to a sharp track should suit (form figures of 1 and 2). Of his rivals, Paricolor is feared but may now find life tough back in handicap company off a 12lb higher mark over this longer trip.
Not A Role Model is well treated over hurdles but has not been seen in this sphere for two years and is 0-3, while Shantung has shaped as though she is need of a wind operation and Foreign Secretary is 0-6 when tackling further than 2m.
Hier Encore looks out of his depth and Show Promise has not delivered his namesake so far this season. That leaves No Quarter Asked, who has a likeable attitude and returns to this sphere after a disappointing chase debut but, despite being 0-12, he has shown that this mark is within reach so can follow the selection home.
