DASHING RAT finished like a steam train after being slightly outpaced aforced to follow the eventual winner around rivals in the Coventry Stakes, and back in calmer waters here, he can continue his progression.
His previous Brighton run was given a good boost when second to one that scored next time and then finished third in the Albany, and his earlier run behind the useful Desert Dreamer at Newmarket has worked out well. His experience may be put to good use here.

HARSWELL DUKE (4.30 Pontefract, 1pt win 4/1)
HARSWELL DUKE found the drop in trip to 7f all too sharp last time, and the step back up to 1m at this stiff track should suit him well. He wasn’t disgraced behind a good horse in Bravado (rated 91) last time, and by the time he got his act together, the race was over.
His Musselburgh win came on soft ground but it’s unlikely he needs that surface given his action and in receipt of 10lb from the field for his weight for age allowance, he can make his presence felt turned out quickly.
