FAMOSO (1.00 Wincanton, 1pt each-way 25/1)
This is not the most convincing bunch for this opening maiden hurdle and Confirmation Bias is short on what he has achieved thus far so a chance is taken on his unexposed stablemate FAMOSO.
He was well beaten here last time over 2m5f in a competitive novice hurdle and pulled extremely hard for 90% of his race but showed up well and was given an easy time of things once fading before the second last. That was a good performance in the main in the first time tongue-tie and it’s not the first time one from this yard has improved for that equipment.
He is entitled to improve for that first start over hurdles and the drop back to 2m looks a good move so a chance is taken at a big price that he can reach the frame in this uninspiring contest.

The return to better ground and this Wincanton course are both positives for IRON MIKE who clocked a very useful time figure on his last start at this venue behind On To Victory when touched off by a nose.
He has raced here three times and on all three occasions shown an improved level of form. With the top two in the market both saddling penalties, he looks the way to go.

KAUTO THE KING was much better than the beaten distance of 25 lengths suggests last time at Newbury and that’s now the second time he has failed to see out a trip close to 3m.
He has been dropped 2lbs for that run and is only 5lb above his last winning mark which came in good style here at Wincanton over course and distance and conditions look ripe for a repeat effort. The drop back in trip is in his favour and he is relatively unexposed at this trip and the market looks to have underestimated his chances.

There are questions over most of this field but BALLYBOUGH NORA has been holding her form well in what has likely been unfavoured ground conditions so with the return to a sounder surface (sole win came on good) the hope is that she can finally put it all together. She is a 10 race Maiden over fences but her recent form suggests she is more than capable of getting her head in front off this handicap mark of 107 and the lack of depth to this race offers her a prime opportunity.
