ANNSAM (3.00 Kempton, 1pt win 12/1)
This is a good race with plenty to consider, but the likes of Calva D’Auge and Stoner’s Choice have little mileage in their current handicap marks and Press Your Luck needs to take another step forward to defy this handicap mark of 130.
I like two in here and at the prices it’s fair to play both. ANNSAM is 4-7 over hurdles and reverts back to the smaller obstacles off a workable handicap mark of 130. He was rated 135 over fences after a good start over the larger obstacles last season and he arguably would have won if he had stayed on his feet on seasonal return at Exeter.
His final hurdle start saw him run out a good winner at Catterick off a handicap mark of 118 in very good style over Minella Trump, who is rated 130 over hurdles. Adam Wedge jumps back on board today, and he has ridden him in all four of his victories. The slight step up in trip is a positive on this good ground and he is lightly raced after just 11 career starts. He has been underestimated by the market in this contest.

BOREHAM BILL (3.00 Kempton, 1pt win 9/2)
BOREHAM BILL is vulnerable to an improver, but he likes it here at Kempton with a 1-2 record, the other a neck defeat. The win was in the highly competitive Lanzarote Hurdle three starts ago off a 4lb lower handicap mark.
It was a promising prep run for this contest at Aintree where he seemed to falter for fitness inside the final furlong, and he should strip fitter for that outing today. The time figure recorded in the Lanzarote was excellent, as was his run previously at this venue.
He had little chance at Cheltenham next time in the Coral Cup when given far too much to do from the rear of the field in a slowly run contest – Koshari a recent example. This doesn’t look as deep as his two efforts here previously, so it would be folly to think he can’t go close.

THAHAB IFRAJ NAP (4.00 Kempton, 1pt win 4/1)
THAHAB IFRAJ looks held by the handicapper at first glance, but he hit the line very strongly at Wincanton on his latest outing and had very little chance from the rear of the field when attempting to catch the well-handicapped runaway leader.
Wincanton lends itself well to front runners who always seem tough to peg back, so the performance should be looked at in a positive light. This is a drop into Class 4 company for the first time since 2018, and he is effectively 3lb lower today.
He was an impressive scorer on his last visit to Kempton, which came this time last year, and he looks worth chancing with this handicap mark clearly within reach on the balance of his form this summer.
