Top tipster Daryl Carter, dives headlong into a busy Saturday’s racing, with nine tips across the days meetings at Goodwood, Newmarket, Beverley and Windsor. DANEH – (1.50 Goodwood, 1pt win – 7/2)
A good race with stacks of potential on offer in the likes of Clitheroe and Hello You, but the one that excites me is DANEH, who was impressive on debut at Kempton under no more than a hands and heels ride. She recorded a good final three-furlong time figure despite easily coasting along at Kempton, and she is clearly thought of highly enough to be entered in a Group 2 in France on her next start.
Nothing went right in Deauville after a slow start, and she was denied a clear run when held up off a very slow pace. She will improve for a faster surface, and this sharp 7f should prove right up her street. The two to take out of the race in France last time both look future group horses, and her potent turn of foot should be seen to best effect at this track. Clitheroe can finish strongly and fill the forecast spot.

ESCOBAR – (2.25 Goodwood, 1pt win – 7/1)
ESCOBAR has been knocking on the door in much better races than this and this looks like a prime opportunity to score. He got very warm behindhand at York last time but still finished with a flurry from an unpromising position, and despite being 0-7 here at Goodwood, four of those have come in Group 2 or 3 company.
His run in the Group 2 Lennox three starts prior and his run in the Golden Mile on his penultimate start suggests he is more than capable off of this handicap mark, and back on a sounder surface, he has to have a big chance.

AL RUFAA – (2:25pm Goodwood, 1pt win – 15/2)
AL RUFAA is the only other horse that interests me, and given the prices, it’s easier to side with two. This could be a prep run for the Cambridgeshire at Newmarket, but the presence of Frankie Dettori and the hood suggest he is fit and well.
He looked potentially group material when bolting up at Newmarket last season, and it’s interesting connections have persisted with him. He has a lay-off to defy, but this is not a strong race for the grade, and he could easily be much better than these after just six starts on turf.

KHAADEM – (2.45 Newmarket, 2pts win – 8/1)
The first time Blinkers for KHAADEM, the return to a fast surface, the drop back to six furlongs and the return here to Newmarket for which he was 4th in the Group 1 July Cup last season are all reasons to think he has a big run in him. He was better than the bare result at Chester last time when running on ground, softer than ideal and over 7f. He sweated up before the race and failed to handle the sharp turns. It was all wrong for him.
This scenario looks spot on, and he meets many horses out of form or who are simply not good enough. He is 8lbs better off with Summerghand for their meeting in the Stewards Cup in 2019 and is open to further improvement now, given these conditions. He had shaped well on a couple of conditions this term, including at Salisbury when looking the winner a furlong out before something looked a miss.
He only has 1/2 a length to find with the short-priced favourite Tabdeed on their meeting at Newcastle when the selection was on the wrong side of the track to make his challenge so represents value in this contest.

WISE WORDS – (3.15 Beverley, 1pt win – 12/1)
I like WISE WORDS here, who has little to find with the market principals on their meeting in the Scarborough Stakes at Doncaster last term. She has been very unfortunate on a few occasions, and it’s possible we haven’t seen the best of her yet. She will finish strongly, and this race could set up for her with stacks of pace on.

OSTILIO – (3:15pm Beverley, 0.5pt each-way – 50/1)
OSTILIO is a horse I can’t leave alone at the moment, so I wouldn’t blame you for not following, but he is a 50/1 shot, and he was a big eye-catcher at York when for some reason Luke Morris who had the perfect draw took him to the unfavoured side of the course before switching back. His strong finishing effort could be seen to best effect here and at the prices, well, why not.

BENBATL – (3.35 Goodwood, 1pt win – 11/4)
The price about BENBATL is too hard to turn away, especially since he will only need to be half the horse over the last few years to win this. Most come here with a strong negative to their name, and although the selection also does, there is compensation in his price.
He is top class on his day, and his trainer has an 18% strike rate with horses returning from 300 days or more and the selection’s record fresh reads 311101. He is hard to overlook taking on inferior rivals.

CAMBRIDGESHIRE – (5.05 Newmarket, 1pt win – 7/2)
CAMBRIDGESHIRE is a horse we followed last time when in a bad run, so hopefully, with my spidey senses back to normal, she should take a bit of beating in this field. She is one of the least exposed in the field, and she should relish this step up in trip on the evidence of her last two runs.
She was caught running a suspect race on her final handicap qualifying run and was outpaced when the race turned into a sprint at Nottingham last time but once on terms; she finished strongly. Her penultimate start suggests she will handle this track no problem, and this trip could be the key to getting to the bottom of her.

FOX TAL – (6.00 Windsor, 1pt win – 7/1)
FOX TAL bounced right back to form at Goodwood last time, so a chance is taken on him to build on that here. Teona is a poor favourite, and the back form of the selection is some of the strongest on offer in the race. He settled much better than he has done previously at Goodwood and relished the strong pace on offer – one he will get here.
He was last off the bridle and tanked through the race, but it was his finishing effort that really caught the eye, and that’s something that has been lacking in previous starts. He looks in rude health, and now is the time to capitalise.
