Horse Racing Tips - Daryl Carter Best Bets On Saturday, October 2

Top tipster Daryl Carter had a fine day yesterday identifying Scope (5/2 winner) and Ibiza Rocks (22/1 place) from three selections. He returns with five bets on a busy Saturday’s racing. Check these out below, with all backable via 888sport‘s exclusive £30 in free bets + £10 casino bonus promotion.

FEARBY – (2.20 Newmarket, 1pt win, 7/2)

This is not as deep as the numbers suggest, and FEARBY takes a significant drop in grade after contesting Group company and a Listed race in his last four runs. He has shaped as though a stiff test such as the one that this Newmarket track offers will certainly suit – evident by his running on third in the Mill Reef at Newbury last time.

There is rain due here, which will enhance his chances, and he is unexposed at this 6f trip. He ticks plenty of boxes as well as being 7lbs clear on weight-adjusted ratings, so it’s very hard to see him getting beat in this contest.

QUICKTHORN – (2.40 Ascot, 2pt win, 9/2)

QUICKTHORN’S eighth behind Hukum in the Ebor barrier trial can easily be forgiven since it’s not a race you really want to win and get a hike in the ratings before the big race, and the form of that race has proven that not to be his true running.

He did excellently well in the Ebor when doing best of those ridden prominently, only to be touched off by a subsequent Group 1 winner. His Salisbury performance, when losing 15 lengths at the start, deserves a big upgrade given the slow pace they went, and he had to come from the rear of the field off a sedate gallop once latched on.

He is a progressive young unexposed horse who already has a win over course and distance to his name at the Royal meeting and will surely be the one in the field that appreciates the rain that is due to fall. He must be a big, big player in this field and in receipt of 3lbs from Hukum, he only has 1lb of improvement to find, and the rain will help with that.

AL RUFAA – (3.50 Ascot, 1pt win, 7/1)

He may not run if the ground turns into a bog, and I can’t convince you that he will handle the ground better than many others in here, but he is certainly well-handicapped on the evidence of his Sandown run last time when second to Marshal Dan.

The winner had the run of the race, got in a good blow on the turn into the home straight, and kicked away again. That was not run to suit the held up AL RUFAA, who did remarkably well from well off the pace to make up the ground he did to be beaten just 3/4 of a length. This stiff straight track will really suit him, and he has an ideal draw in stall 17 of 18 (the last two winners ironically have come from this stall, although not really relevant) to be on the right side of the Ascot track bias.

He is unexposed, and this does look the time to catch him on just his third run of the season, which means he is fresher than most of whom have had some tough tasks in big handicaps this term.

BOUNDLESS POWER – (4.25 Ascot, 2pt win, 3/1)

BOUNDLESS POWER was unlucky for us in the Portland over 5 1/2f when caught late by a subsequent winner in Hurricane Ivor, but that run confirmed that he is a well-handicapped horse and a 3lb rise shouldn’t be enough to stop him back at the minimum trip. Soft ground is ideal and is the return to this stiff Ascot track, and with this smaller field, the draw in stall six shouldn’t be a hindrance.

There are many positives to his chances here, and he is an improving handicapper who looks like a winner in waiting. Dangers include Count D’orsay, who looks as though a return to form is on the cards in this Autumn campaign, and the return to soft ground for Pendleton means he can’t be written off with any confidence.

MOJOMAKER (NAP) – (3.35 Redcar, 2pt each-way, 10/1)

MOJOMAKER looks a good bit of value after catching the eye at York in the Yearling Stakes when denied a clear run in a race that has worked out well. The winner went close at Doncaster (2nd by a neck) in the valuable sales race, splitting two top sprinters next time, and the second was better than the bare result at Ripon behind a subsequent Group 1 runner-up in the Cheveley Park.

The third won a Group 2 at Newbury, the sixth won at Thirsk, and the seventh won two starts later at Haydock. That was just the selection’s second start over 6f, with the first a 1/2 length defeat to Group 1 performer Asymmetric at Goodwood the other. Asymmetric has certainly improved since then, but the pair pulled well clear of an 86-rated horse back in third, and the selection is open to similar improvement over this trip.

I am not sure Chipotle or Vintage Clarets at the top of the market want this step up in trip to 6f, and outside of those, it’s Symphony Perfect that rates the main danger. He represents good each-way value here.
