Horse Racing Tips - Daryl Carter Best Bets On Saturday, October 30

Top tipster Daryl Carter has a magnificent seven bets on a jam-packed Saturday’s racing. Check out his thoughts below, with all selections backable via Paddy Power and their exclusive new customer offer which provides £60 in free bets when you bet £10 on racing.

BOOTHILL – (2.10 Ascot, 1pt win, 3/1)

It’s challenging to ignore BOOTHILL off of this opening handicap mark of 135, not just on the time figure he recorded at Taunton on hurdle debut, but the form of his Kempton bumper win has produced horses rated 130 plus down to the sixth.

He has had his problems which kept him off the track last season, and he does have a future over fences, but I have been told this is not a prep run. He looks too well-handicapped to ignore here, and providing he gets a prominent early position, this could be a point and shoot job.

NOBLE DYNASTY – (2.23 Newmarket, 2pt win, 5/2)

I really was expecting not to write this one up, given my projected odds on him were around 13/8, but the price above has to be taken. The three-year-old shaped with considerable promise behind subsequent Balmoral fourth Nugget at Haydock when stuck on the rail and unable to make his challenge fully, and now with William Buick taking over in the saddle, he looks good value against exposed rivals off the same mark.

He offered plenty of promise at this venue over an inadequate trip of 6f on debut when beaten a neck by stablemate Modern News (99). He was below par on return at Thirsk but took a step forward last time at Haydock, and he is open to vast improvement back here at Newmarket after just four starts on turf.

THOMAS DARBY – (2.30 Wetherby, 4/1)

This division has lacked any strength in depth for quite some time now, but THOMAS DARBY has been crying out for a stiff stamina test, and he improved for going up to three miles for the first time in the Liverpool Hurdle at Aintree.

He was only touched off four lengths by a fresh Thyme Hill, and he stuck to the task well in a race that today’s favourite Paisley Park pulled up in. Paisley Park has questions to answer but sets the standard, although if he fails to deliver, Thomas Darby will surely be the one to capitalise. He is unexposed at three miles, has gone well fresh and won’t mind any rain, so he ticks plenty of boxes at the prices.

FUSIL RAFFLES – (3.05 Wetherby, 1pt win, 5/1)

I wasn’t a big fan of FUSIL RAFFLES over the shorter trips of 2m and 2 1/2 because he didn’t jump well enough at that speed to land a blow, but he has looked as though a stiff test of stamina will see him to best effect. It was a satisfactory return under restraint at Newton Abbot behind Bravemansgame over 2m5f, and he was outpaced around the home bend but stayed on strongly at the finish.

He is highly progressive and tries this trip for the first time, which should bring forth some improvement. He is only six years old and has a bright future ahead of him should he see this trip out strongly. Cyrname is a horse you must take on, given he has failed to complete in four of his last five starts, and Shan Blue has been behind the selection previously, so Clondaw Castle rates the main danger.

HAAFAPIECE (NAP) – (3.40 Wetherby, 2pt each-way, 7/1)

HAAFAPIECE has run three excellent races at this venue, with the first of those a good fourth on return last season behind two horses now rated 8 and 14 pounds higher in the handicap. He then chased home Albert’s Back (now 11lbs higher) when attempting to give him weight and recorded an excellent time figure – 20 lengths faster than today’s favourite Mackenberg, who ran on the same card.

He had little chance when held up at the rear of a slowly run race when taking on two unexposed novices’ in Pay The Piper and Shantou Express, and clattering the last didn’t help his chances. Pay The Piper is 11lbs higher in the handicap while the selection is now effectively running off a 10lbs lower mark inclusive of the jockey claim against more exposed rivals.

His form adds up to be him being well-handicapped in this scenario, and it’s hard to see him not going very close here.

SHALLWEHAVEONEMORE – (3.55 Ascot, 2pt win, 2/1)

SHALLWEHAVEONEMORE makes his hurdle debut today, so he needs to prove he can jump, but he looked mighty impressive when quickening clear for Gary Moore at Kempton back in March on bumper debut.

He went into the "horses to follow" list off the back of the excellent performance, and the time figure was electric, and he should have some big targets ahead of him this season! He makes plenty of appeal in this race and is certainly one to keep on side.

DANTE’S PASS – (4.08 Newmarket, 1pt win, 11/2)

This is a big ask for a twice-raced three-year-old, but he was extremely impressive on his debut at Listowel and then improved significantly for the run when a ready winner at Limerick. He will need to improve again, but the manner of his victory suggests he could be a very smart horse for the future.

Joseph O’Brien has only brought one horse over this season, so he doesn’t travel without reason, and although this is more of a gut feeling than being backed up by time figures and form, he could be anything and is well worth taking a chance on.
