Daryl Carter had a fantastic Friday with winners at 5/2, 7/1, 7/1 and 9/4 from just five selections. He’s the man in form so why not take advantage of his Saturday selections with £30 IN FREE BETS
DIOCLES OF ROME (1.15 Doncaster, 0.5pts each-way 14/1)
DIOCLES OF ROME improved on his previous efforts over 7f here at Doncaster last time out on seasonal reappearance and he looks ready for this step back up to 1m, so a chance is taken that the five-year-old has some improvement to come.
He is a previous course winner on his second start last term and although 7lb higher here, he shaped as though he has more to offer over this trip.
The form of that recent run is likely to work out well and he did well from off the pace when it paid to be on the front end. At a double-figure price he could prove the answer in a tricky affair.

MERAAS (2.25 Doncaster, 0.5pts each-way 14/1)
I am willing to forgive MERAAS the disappointment he caused me at York last time but that was on soft ground and he has now performed poorly on both occasions when encountering the softer surface.
Back on quicker ground today, the sole three-year-old looks to have optimum conditions over this 5½ furlong trip. I have long thought he is vulnerable in the dying strides of the 6f trip and he has shown strong early pace to suggest this trip should suit.
It’s always a concern with Mark Johnston runners at this time of the year that they may have done their running for the season but I can’t to think there is unfinished business with this progressive sprinter and he can follow in the footsteps of last year’s three-year-old winner Oxted.

RESTORER (2.40 Chester, 1pt win 9/1)
This looks trappy and despite RESTORER disappointing at York last time, he is worth another chance as that is now twice he has run poorly there.
Back here at Chester, where his form figures read 2241, including a win off today’s mark of 95, he might prove the answer if the cheekpieces can eke out more improvement.
There looks to be a strong pace on here and his hold-up style of racing will be well suited to this race. Prejudice looks well treated but hasn’t looked the strongest stayer over this trip and a drop back to 1m, which saw him off the mark previously, may be the answer with that one.

LIMATO (3.00 Doncaster, 2pts win 5/2)
LIMATO loves Newmarket but last time showed that the spark still burns and, despite his ageing years, he is a force to be reckoned with at this level.
He was a ready winner many moons ago here at Doncaster on his only run at this venue so that gives confidence he will be able to translate his latest form here. The ground is quickening up all the time, which swings things in his favour over One Master.
It may be that Wichita is the biggest danger but he has been less than reliable this season and the rest seem to have a mountain to climb. The form Limato’s latest win at Newmarket has worked out well and he has had plenty of time to get over that race so rates a confident bet to make it back-to-back wins this season.

DAPPER MAN (4.35 Musselburgh, 1pt win 5/1)
I have been keeping a keen eye on DAPPER MAN who has shaped as though his time might be near on a couple of occasions without ideal conditions and today he gets those.
This sharper track and quicker ground looks ideal and with a high draw (next to the rail) he should be able to use his front-running tactics to good effect. All of his best form has come on a quicker surface and this is the second time he has had good to firm ground since winning off a mark of 80 last year.
He has raced over course and distance on four occasions off of handicap marks of 86, 75, 85 and latest a good effort on soft ground off a mark of 69 behind the improving Militia who was racking up a hat-trick so back here off a mark of 67 on fast ground should really see him in the best of lights.

WHAT AN ANGEL (6.00 Lingfield, 1pt win 6/1)
WHAT AN ANGEL is firmly on the upgrade and deservedly got off the mark on the all-weather last time but has had excuses for his previous runs on turf. He was unlucky not to win at Sandown two starts back when caught in a pocket and was denied a clear run.
That effort was sandwiched between two runs on soft ground which wouldn’t have suited and he is only 3lb higher now off a mark of 77 so back on a sounder surface and with the extra half-furlong sure to suit, he gets the vote to continue on his upward curve.
