Horse Racing Tips - Daryl Carter Best Bets On Sunday 2nd May

It’s another quality day’s racing on Sunday and Daryl Carter brings five selections across Hamilton and Newmarket meetings. Check out his picks below.

.

[MORISCO].- (2.40 Hamilton, 1pt each-way – 9/1)

This can go to MORISCO who looks as though he has been crying out for a step up in distance and shaped nicely in a similar event behind two unexposed horses at Thirsk. Seemingly unfancied by the market sent off at 28/1 he finished with a good deal of running left despite hanging across the track and not looking the most straight forward ride for Jane Elliot. The cheek-pieces go back on today which will only aid his cause and a good draw in stall one (providing he is quicker away than usual) will allow him to run the rail which could prove significant in his chances over this longer trip (can hang left). He caught the eye in this headgear on his penultimate start on the AW when denied a clear run and his handicap mark is falling despite recording near best RPRS the last twice.

[SIGNIFICANTLY].- 3.15 Hamilton, 1pt win – 14/1)

SIGNIFICANTLY has a bit to find on ratings here but things haven’t always been straight forward for this horse and prominent tactics look to see him to best effect and given he was only caught late over 6f by a potential top notcher at Newmarket last time (well clear of the rest with 100 yards to go) he is worth another go at 5f. Clifford Lee is sure to make use of his early gate speed and stamina so he may prove tough to peg back and he doesn’t have that much to find with Muker and Ben Macdui on their previous meetings.

[WHERES JEFF].- (3.55 Hamilton, 3pts win – 5/1)

The Handicapper has been extremely quick to relent with WHERES JEFF who now resides on a handicap mark of 68, his lowest since 2018 when he made his first two starts over 1m (both winning ones including here at Hamilton). He showed up well at Beverley on seasonal return despite being denied a clear run in the closing stages and that was the first chance he has had on a sound surface since running off a handicap mark of 80 in a hot Class 3 handicap at York in the summer over 1m2f. His last two efforts over this trip on a sound surface both came in good Class 3 events at York and Pontefract off of a mark of 84. He is now 16lbs lower and into a Class 5 for just the second time in 3 years (other latest return run) and history shows he always improves for the run. He ran his best race second time out last term here at Hamilton behind Dark Jedi who is now 16lsb higher (selection is 15lbs lower) and in 2019 he won second time out at Beverley and in 2018 he won second time out at Newcastle. His form figures here at Hamilton read 2321 all over 1m but he has twice won over this trip off of handicap marks of 77 and 81 in Class 4 and 3 events. A good draw in stall 3 means Jockey Nathan Evans can go and make the running and keep life simple off this much-reduced mark of 68.

[WILD HOPE] – (4.25 Hamilton, 1pt win – 7/2)

WILD HOPE is yet to get the rub of the green and it is concerning that he fails to get his head in front as much as he should but he did so well from an unpromising position at Newcastle on the back of a break he deserves another chance back on turf. His form is strong for the grade and he could have things finally drop right on this occasion.

[INVEIGLE]. – (5.20 Newmarket, 1pt win – 4/1)

INVEIGLE quickly made up into a useful performer last season as a two-year-old and signed off with an impressive performance at Chelmsford once upped to a more suitable trip. He looks one well worth keeping on side going forward and this opening handicap mark of 85 will surely underestimate his ability to should he pick up the progressive thread again first time up this term. This track should prove no issue given his well-balanced nature and he looks one to look forward to this term for a trainer that has had his string fit fist time up.
