PERFECT POWER (14:50 Deauville, 2pts each-way – 13/2)
There are four places on offer here, and I can’t believe PERFECT POWER is as big a price as he is. The Norfolk Stakes winner at Royal Ascot for this column and the runner-up has done the form wonders since, and it’s highly likely that the trip of 5f is probably too sharp for him. He improved significantly on that performance when a very frustrating and unlucky fifth at Goodwood last time.
He finished on the bridle and was tough to pull up after the race. That confirmed this six furlongs is his right trip, and the form of that race has taken a boost with the fourth since a winner in group 1 company in Ireland and the selection was under a penalty that day. I am not convinced Quick Suzy wants six furlongs given the early speed she has shown over 5f, and any cut in the ground may go against her. I can’t have the selection out of the four here.

END RESULT – (16:20 Sandown, 1pt win – 9/1)
END RESULT is too well-handicapped to ignore here under this five-pound claimer who is good value. The drop back in trip would be a concern, but this is a stiff track, and she should appreciate this race turning into a test with plenty of early dash on. She has excuses for her latest run when poor (lame) and the downhill finish at Goodwood prior to that saw the race over by the time she got going.
Her form earlier this season on return and that of her three-year-old season suggests she will pick up a race of this nature sooner or later, so she is taken to finish strongly here at Sandown from a good draw.

GLOBAL SPIRIT – (18:45 Sandown, 1pt each-way – 14/1)
It’s worth rolling the dice with GLOBAL SPIRIT at the prices, given he has been crying out for a strongly run race over a stiff 1m, and that’s exactly what he will get here. He has ran with credit in stronger races than this already this season, and he is the type to pop up in one of these races.
This is a drop back into a Class 4 for the first time since being touched off by a neck at Carlisle, and his four-length defeat prior to that at York in the same grade behind La Trinidad reads well in the context of this race. He makes plenty of appeal here and grated luck in running; he should be hitting the frame at least.
