Horse Racing Tips - Daryl Carter Best Bets On Sunday, December 26th

Top tipster Daryl Carter has nine selections on a busy Boxing Day’s racing. Check out his selections below which comes alongside an excellent sign-up offer courtesy of 888sport, who are offering a Bet £10 – Get £40 bonus.

TOKAY DOKEY (1.05 Market Rasen, 2pt win, 7/4)

TOKAY DOKEY is strongly fancied to go one better than his latest run at Warwick, and on the evidence of that outing, a return to a right-handed track should see him to best effect. He won his bumper here, so he knows the track well, and the handicapper has been very lenient, giving him another chance at this handicap mark of 120.

He is surely better than this on all known form, and he has made a very bright start to his chase career. This is his third outing after a 984-day break, so it’s highly likely there is more to come. He takes on a field in which most have questions to answer about their current form, and he is easily the most progressive horse. He makes plenty of appeal in this contest.

DANNY KIRWIN (1.20 Kempton, 1pt win, 7/2)

I was torn between Mister Coffey and DANNY KIRWIN, so I thought there was scope in the price to back them both. The performance of the latter at Cheltenham has stuck in my mind, and he sits on a very handy mark of 133. With that run under his belt, the return to a right-handed track for which he has scored at over hurdles, and the form working out very well with the winner, third and fourth all either scoring or running with credit, he has to be a bet at 7/2.

MISTER COFFEY (1.20 Kempton, 1pt win, 5/1)

I couldn’t get away from MISTER COFFEY either. He has a similar profile to Danny Kirwin and shaped as though he would come on for the Newbury run. Nico may not choose him, but he chooses what is favourite nine times out of ten between you and me.

Mister Coffey has been crying out for a step up in trip, and today’s course should suit him well. He warmed to the task on debut behind a subsequent winner and has the size and scope to make him into a top-class chaser. Favourite Bothwell Bridge will indeed find this test too sharp after looking flat out at Sandown last time.

SILVER HALLMARK (2.10 Wetherby, 1pt win, 7/2)

Thankfully SILVER HALLMARK goes for the race I thought he should. This step up to 3m could be the making of him, and in a short space of time, he has proven himself a rather useful chaser. His latest run in a highly competitive Listed chase at Carlisle was full of promise before shaping as though he needed the run.

He was also outpaced at a stage, and given he has won over 2 1/2 on heavy at Haydock, he should have no trouble with this new trip. The soft ground is undoubtedly in his favour, and he makes his handicap debut today off a mark of 145. His head second to Fiddlerontheroof at Exeter, as well as his hurdle form and Haydock win, would suggest he is better than that. Fergal O’Brien has a healthy 22% strike rate here, so he is worth siding with.

ECLAIR MAG (2.15 Market Rasen, 1pt each-way, 20/1)

A chance is taken on ECLAIR MAG, who looks a rather big price on this return to a track he scored so well at on British debut, and this is much easier than his latest run at Haydock when better than the bare result.

He can be excused his seasonal return at Carlisle in October when too keen held up of a very slow gallop, and he hasn’t had many chances on these waters. He stays very strong and will appreciate today’s soft ground, so looks worth rolling the dice with as the outsider of the field.

UNEXPECTED PARTY (NAP) (2.45 Wetherby, 2pt win, 6/5)

UNEXPECTED PARTY looks like one of the best bets of the day. It’s not often you see a horse come up the Cheltenham Hill the way he did on his latest outing, and given he came from the rear of the field in a steady run race, it’s worth upgrading considerably.

He is surely going to be rated in the 130s sooner rather than later, and today’s contest is a drop from 0-140 into 0-130 company. He has different ground conditions to deal with here, but this handicap mark of 124 looks very lenient on that run.

He will need to improve to win today, but he is so lightly raced, it’s hard to see him not to. I almost had a real good lump on this today, but the presence of Severance has made me curb my enthusiasm slightly, although he will need to settle to stay this new trip.

CHANTRY HOUSE (3.05 Kempton, 1pt each-way, 5/1)

CHANTRY HOUSE has plenty in his favour today. He has had a good prep, is two for two right-handed, will enjoy the ground and has the quality to improve at this trip for which he is bred to excel at.

The only question is whether he will be good enough at the first time of asking outside of novice company in a hot race like this. I am finding it hard to put three in front of him, so a 5/1 price must be taken to back him each-way in the attempt not to lose money should he fall short. He is on the upgrade, and this is his big day.

IRON MIKE (3.13 Wincanton, 1pt each-way, 9/1)

IRON MIKE has been knocking at the door and made a very encouraging start to life under his new handlers when second here earlier this month, and given that was only his second start over fences he is taken to get off the mark today.

He impressed with the way he jumped and looked a natural only to fall short of the pace required to pick up the winner who got first run. He pulled nicely clear of the remainder, and a truer test of stamina here should see him go well. He is rock solid rather than progressive but Angus Cheleda claims 5lbs off his back putting him on an attractive handicap mark. He ticks plenty of boxes, likes it at this track and should be making his presence felt.

HYDROPLANE (3.40 Kempton, 1pt each-way, 20/1)

An Tailliur and Earlofthecotswolds have left deep impressions the last twice, but they have been well found by the market, and that one that could have been missed is HYDROPLANE, who sports a first-time tongue-tie.

He needs forgiving a poor reappearance run, but he was highly progressive prior to that over hurdles before a good third over 2m2f on the flat in the Chester Vase, giving weight to the winner, who is a 130-rated hurdler. He has always shaped as though a step up in trip would suit him, and he is a 2m course winner in easy fashion. He could have plenty more to offer, and this mark looks well within range with Jonathan Burke an interesting booking for the yard.
