My Way – (1.05 Chepstow, 1pt win – 13/2)
MY WAY runs from 2lb out of the handicap but he shaped with a great deal of promise at Wincanton in the Badger Beers Trophy before failing to see out the 3m trip and it was the same story at Sandown last time. Today’s drop back in distance to 2m3 ½ f may see him to best effect and he will prove hard to catch off a feather weight under Bryony Frost on the front end in what will be testing conditions. Many of these have their negatives and he offers a bit of value at the prices.

Thedevilscoachman – (1.45 Leopardstown, 1pt each-way – 12/1)
This 2m division is screaming for a stand-out candidate and this race is usually a good pointer towards the Supreme Novice at the Cheltenham Festival so with no six-year-old having won this race and the poor record of 7yo’s poor record in the Supreme Novice, I am happy to take on Appreciate It. Ballyadam is rightly towards the head of the market and has looked a smart prospect without making you feel you need to rush and back him for the festival so needs to pull out more. THEDEVILSCOACHMAN left a deep impression on hurdle debut as he ran out a ready winner at Cork to keep his unbeaten record in tact and can follow on from some useful horses to have won that race in the past. He took care of a well-punted favourite from the Willie Mullins stable (finished fourth) and the runner-up has given that race an emphatic boost next time out when winning by 7 lengths at Limerick (runs in the 2.05 at the same venue today). He rates a chancy bet in a good field but the youngster is entitled to improve for fitness and for experience and showed a bright turn of foot in he closing stages.

Cadzand – (3.40 Kempton, 1pt win – 4/1)
Crooks Peak, Torigni and Hang In There all made the short list along with CADZAND but it’s the Dan Skelton runner that makes most appeal off this opening handicap mark of 129. The slight concern is the right handed track given he has lugged left previously but he is improving at a rate of knots and his unexposed profile bodes well for a race of this nature. He left a deep impression and showed a smart turn of foot when taking care of a previous winner at Warwick on just his second start over hurdles and there is improvement to be had with his jumping. He surely will rate higher than this 129 by the end of the season and the pending weather (lots of rain due) should prove no issue so he gets the vote.

Hold That Taught – (3.55 Chepstow, 1pt win – 10/3)
HOLD THAT TAUGHT wasn’t disgraced in a strongly run contest at Ascot last time behind the rapidly improving, De Machine, and he receives plenty of weight from form setter (hurdles) Highland Hunter who makes his Chase debut. Others in here have claims but it was a much improved effort from the selection at the second time of asking over fences and this stiffer test of stamina should play to his strengths on that evidence. He was unfortunate not to get off the mark on Chase debut when hampered in the closing stages at Lingfield as he attempted to give a subsequent winner 9lbs and that form ties in closely with Supreme Escape so it may be Evas Oskar who gives the selection most to think about.
