LADY KK – (1.10 Exeter, 1pt win – 11/4)
This opening handicap mark of 108 for LADY KK could prove very lenient on the bare form of her Novice Hurdle debut here at Exeter in which her best work came at the finish when a never nearer second over 2m2f behind Emmpressive Lady (124). The winner subsequently won well for this column in a competitive race at Sandown and that form has since been given a boost by the runner-up winning next time out. In third was rock solid 122 horse, Born In Boris, and the fifth, Kilmington Rose, went close next time and has been given an opening handicap mark of 115. The drop back to 2m at a sharp track like Fakenham on her latest start would not have seen her to best effect but she fought out a tight finish in a three runner event to claim the runner-up spot behind the useful, Pasvolsky. The winner there has some very strong bumper form to his name and in third was a rock solid handicapper in Jackson Hill rated 111. Today’s step up in trip to 3m will certainly see her in a better light and this handicap debutant can get the better of favourite, Sandymount Rose, who’s progression has stalled at this trip. Ben Godfrey is a good conditional jockey booking and she is one to keep on side going forward.

AND THE NEW (2.10 Exeter, 0.5pts each-way – 14/1) and CLEMENCIA (2.10 Exeter, 0.5pts each-way – 16/1)
Bear Gyhlls looks ahead of the handicapper on this opening mark of 130 but he has been priced insecurely by the bookmakers so it’s worth taking a chance on AND THE NEW. The selection will have company for the lead but they are unlikely to keep up his early gallop so he could shake them off and after a promising run over 3m at Cheltenham this drop back in trip could see him finish out his races stronger. He is well handicapped on the balance of his form and his two runs this season have been career-best efforts and the booking of Kevin Brogan taking off 7lbs is eye catching given he is 4/5 for this trainer.

CLEMENCIA is one of the horses to follow for the season but things haven’t been right for him in his two starts this term and they now could fall into place so now is the time to put him in the column. The strong pace on offer and this stiff Exeter finish along with a slight step up in trip are all reasons he may be seen to better effect. He caught the eye again at Cheltenham staying on up the hill at a wild price of 80/1 and he was entitled to need that after a wind operation and a short break. This represents a drop in grade from what he has been used to and he was highly though of in Ireland and once described as definitely a Triumph horse and has time on his side.

MUCKAMORE – (3.10 Exeter, 1pt win – 9/2)
Plenty of these arrive with claims but with this race likely to lose those at the top of the market who competed yesterday it would be disappointing if MUCKAMORE could not continue his promising work from last season. He jumped well on chase debut at Market Rasen when fancied to go well but the quick ground was against him there and he shaped as though he needed the run. Back on a softer surface today and upped to 3m, he is given the conditions that saw him successful in the Point To Point sphere. He has a promising future and is expected to improve past these rivals today and on the balance of his hurdle form from last term, his handicap mark of 123 looks extremely lenient. It would be very disappointing should he not come through this test with things now stacked in his favour.
