It takes a leap of faith to back GLASSES UP on the back of his latest run at Ripon, but he is hard to ignore dropped into a Class 4 for the first time since scoring off a 6lbs lower mark here. The return to his favoured Ayr could be the key with form figures at this track of 2511212445358711416 – all of his six wins have come here, and he has fallen in the handicap to 1lb above his last winning mark.
His form when running here is significantly stronger than any of today’s rivals, and although he must give weight away to some unexposed three-year-old’s, they haven’t shown all that much, so this rates a good opportunity to get back on track.

I was tempted to side with Redarna at his favoured Ayr, but I was disappointed with him last time, and he is hardly improving at seven, so SUMMA PETO is the offering. His Royal Ascot run over that straight mile was too bad to be true, and in all honesty, the scenario didn’t suit him. He was a very impressive winner at Wolverhampton prior to that for this column and again here at Ayr in April.
The form of both of those runs (around a bend) has worked out very well to suggest he could have more to come off this handicap mark of 92 under these conditions in receipt of 9lbs from his elders, who are the biggest dangers. He is a favourable price to continue his improvement, and this looks like a belting opportunity.
